BlackBerry Curve 8330
Gmail & Blackberry
When I SEND a message FROM my blackberry handheld using my gmail email address I automatically receive the exact same message TO my blackberry as though I sent it to myself...
I have not owned a blackberry since 2005 and just recently purchased the Curve. The last time I owned a blackberry I vaguely remembered having the same problem, so I went into the gmail settings and created a filter that skips the inbox and archives it when a message is received from my gmail email address and that still doesn't seem to work.
....any help anyone is able to provide will be tremendous help

Ok,
This is pretty well known problem with gmail. It has to do with the threading messaging that gmail offers. Here's the fix that I use.
1. Log into the Vzw BIS website
https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw »
2. Clink on "filters" for your gmail address.
3. Then Click "edit"
4. Filter Name: From
Apply Filter when: "From" Field
Contains: cwcanty@gmail.com
5. Make sure "do not forward messages to device" is checked.
See if that works for your. Thats how mine is set up. Good Luck!

you should see it to the right of whatever email address you have listed. It should be right next to "edit"

I dunno...thats weird that you're not seeing it. it should be on your home screen on the BIS page right next to your email adresses.

So i still do not see the filters button. Here is what my screen looks like:

So should I have a filters button up near the edit / delete buttons? My BB is verizon if that matters. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

ME TOO! Mine looks JUST like that!!
Here is what happened to me...I went to verizon to transfer my contacts from old phone to new BB curve 8330.
Something went weird and i had to completely reset the whole phone. When i initially set up the phone w/ gmail and bb address I had two new "world" icons that disappeared after this reset.
I set up both again and now have the gmail "world" icon but still no BB world icon. I tried to activate and it "initiated activation" for about 20 min before failing. I'm getting BB IM's but cannot log onto the BES or anything!! PLUS, I'm not getting that filter button.
BUT...to compliment my original thread at the top...my call log and txts did not erase last night!!! Must just be a glitch? I'll keep y...

there is a much simplier way to avoid the delievery receipt....when you are in your messages go to options and then email settings. once in there you will see an option for "confirm delivery"

I'm not sure if that is the issue with gmail, but a good tip nonetheless. Gmail has a problem double dipping because of some glitch with the BB and the threaded messaging within gmail

8830?? Did you mean 8330? or did I buy my very first BB and should regret the model I chose? hehe 🙂 Just kidding. Even if I got a different BB I'd still be on here every other 2 hours asking questions!! Mac products are SO much user friendly. Apple and BB should team up 🙂
