BlackBerry Curve 8330

I like the fact that the Alltel Curve has GPS and looks good too. Does anyone know how well the data service work in Texas? Need it for email and to connect my laptop to the internet (possibly by and Alltel air card). I will be using if from DFW to Abilene to Tyler to San Antonio and all the rural areas in between. I know it only sales service in certain areas of TX, but I can get around that.
