Blue Tooth keeps dropping
VeetsSep 8, 2008, 8:57 PM
Hi,
I've had the LG VX-8700 since February 2008. It kept dropping the blue tooth and so I brought the phone into Verizon about two weeks ago and they swapped it. It's happening again. Is it possible that it's the phone? If I remove the blue tooth, and then add it back, it works. However, I noticed that if I am not using the phone and it's idle, the blue tooth drops. As a test, I press the end key, but I don't hear beeps coming from the blue tooth or through the phone. I don't know what to make of this. I check the blue tooth menu and it has the option if I want to disconnect. Is anyone else experiencing this or having issues with this phone?
Thanks,
Veets

I've had my VX-8700 since April, with the exact same problem. Have tried Plantronics earpiece and Motorola visor speaker with same frustrating results. Had it checked at Verizon store; technicians updated the firmware but no improvement. Is Bluetooth always this unreliable? If so, I can't imagine why anyone is using it.

It was a great phone until this hiccup. I had my vx8700 and it started dropping my bluetooth earpiece from time to time. It got worse, and I tried two other earpieces without luck.
Last week Verizon swapped phones. No luck, so I called again, and they asked me to update the SW. It's at the current level.
Verizon now switching to a Chocolate 3, but I liked the vx8700...if only the damned bluetooth worked right.
Any one else???

After reading that other users had their VX-8700 replaced, I did the same. That has solved my problem. LC - I read some posts indicating that more than one phone had to be replaced before resolving the issue. In my case it was only one. I recommend that you ask for another replacement VX8700. I'm with you; I really like the phone and wanted to go to another model only as a last resort.

I upgraded to the Droid X2 from the LG Env Touch. Never had a problem uploading my address book to the car's bluetooth system. The Droid X2 will not do this, however. So 2+ years newer technology and I can no longer do a basic task. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix? Trying to explain this to Verizon is about equal to explaining Calculus to a cage full of hyenas.
I cannot say enough bad things about Verizon's customer service. It is horrible.
