Hi. I've been following this forum for months and waiting like everyone else for this phone. After the 'release' last week and subsequent disappearance of the phone I went and bought an E65 instead. Just in case anyone is looking for an alternative to the N75 this could be it.

Pros: same S60, more memory, wifi that works very well (and UMTS is only slightly faster than EDGE anyways). No Cingular crap apps either. Fantastic voice quality and reception. Battery life is great too and charges fully in 2 hours.

cons: keypad is a little small but perfectly usable. I'm sure there are others but they haven't popped up yet.

If any has any questions about the phone I will be glad to answer them.

and yes I realize there's an E65 forum, just thought it might be a relevant discussion over here.

UMTS is more then slightly faster then edge. I can see the difference between the two when I go to a 3g area from where I live, the difference is very noticable.

I do have to admit the E65 is a nice phone, but I can't justify spending that kind of money and not be able to use 3g.

And 3g is not just about speed, but the simultaneous voice/data

I can be talking on the phone, turn on the speaker
and pull up google maps or the browser and surf the net while still on the phone, or send a picture message without ever ending my conversation-try that with an E65!

I hear you on that note. Being on the speakerphone and simultaneously looking up stuff on the web was definitely cool. You gain some features, you lose others.
