slow phone...

i just bought a KRZR yesterday and already im noticing a few things about it that seem a bit off.

first off, the phone seems to be incredibly slow, or at least compared to my old kyocera kx2. the menus take more time than should be neccesary. loading a newly recieved text message, for instance takes at least 2-4 seconds for the message to load.

the other problem im encountering is with the t9 text entry mode. i have only used eZi in the past, so i dont know exactly how it works, but i dont think my phones t9 is working correctly. it does not automatically create the apostrophe in compounded words (i end up with a period unless i manually change it to an apostrophe), nor is it seemingly allowing me to enter new words into the database. ...

Are you sure it has T9 and not ITAP? I was under the inpression that ITAP was on all Moto phones. I came from a phone with T9 and recently bought the Razr which has ITAP and I am havinga hard time getting used to that

That is how ITAP works. I got my KRZR when it came out and it was the first time I used ITAP. I hated it but you'll get used to it after a while. It predicts the words pretty well though, just hit "up" to sort through them.. Some actually include the apostrophe that you would be looking for. I got used to going to the menu, hitting 6 for symbols, and 9 for the apostrophe though.

About the speed I know it's slow than it should be, but make sure you clear your text messages regularly. I clear mine when I have around 200 messages. When I first got the phone I had over 1100 messages and it's performance was so much faster once I erased them all.

I more or less have all the issues described.

Also add to that sometimes when I hit the camera button there is no response. But I figured out when that happens, if I close the phone, the external screen is activated for the camera, and the camera interface is there when I open it.

As with the V3m, I think most of these issues will be addressed with a firmware update.

I wish VZW would either get the picture that they can't design phone OS's to save their life, and either give up, or farm it out to a successful software company to fulfill that role.

its been lagging for the text messages from the first one i recieved. its not absolutely horrible right now, but im worried that it will only get slower with time.

and whats this firmware thing youre talking about? is that upgrade done over the network, or would it require going into the store to have done?
