Removing the Red Bars
Hi all.
I just got this phone and I have to say I HATE the red bars that are on the top and bottom as weel as the front display. WTF!
Has anybody found a way to remove these yet??
I called Verizon and left a complaint and suggestion. If you hate these too, please call them and tell them to leave a suggestion. Maybe we can get them to change the UI.

Have you had much experience with alltel and nationwide coverage..... I'm always thinking of giving them a try due to several issues with verizon including, billing and there restrictive interfaces, but I hestiate not knowing how good the network is over there.
Above and beyond all else network connectivity for voice calls is really important.

I have had both carriers. at the time i am a rep for tmobile. but i will say Alltel and Verizon pretty much resemble one another with coverage. billing as well is a shared problem. but these two cdma networks are at the top of their game. so if verizon has coverage alltel should have it covered to.
it's not hard at all to unlock a phone and put it on the Verizon network, the thing is that you can't unlock it and then change your mind, once it's unlocked .....your stuck.

How does Alltel resemble VZW in coverage? I see that their maps look similar, but when I try to enter in my zip, or the zips of places I visit, it says "no service for that ZIP."

Washington, DC
New York City
Chicago
Los Angeles
All nada... No thanks.

theres no possible way Alltel has the same coverage as Verizon.. i shouldn't have to explain why either.
