Motorola V195 / V197

I just bought an unlocked (T-Mobile branded) V195 cell phone from eBay. I am using it w/ AT&T. All the phone and text messaging features work great -- however, I'm unable to connect to the internet at all. I consistently get a "Network not available" message.

Anyone know how to fix this? Network settings?

I recently purchased a Motorola V195 for my wife to use and for me until my new permanent phone arrives. The V195 is well recommended by this forum/others but I have quickly found some, perhaps overlooked, problems that make me consider that I chose the wrong phone. First, the back-lighting on the keys is terrible at best. I can see letters and some of the center-column numerals but not the numbers on the sides. Yes, it is a standard layout but because the keys are flat and not rounded buttons it makes them more difficult to find. Now, how about the tone made while pressing the keys? There is better sync between the action and soundtrack of old Kung-Fu movies than with this phone; it is hard to tell if a number, letter or symbol actually app...

I'm having an odd issue and am wondering if anyone else has seen this yet..

On MacOSX 10.4.7, using Bluetooth File Exchange, I've successfully been able to send pictures (wallpaper and icons) and audio files (ringtones) to the phone. However, when trying to send Java games (.jar files) I'm getting a strange error message:
"The last operation failed: bad request"

This worked easy as pie on my T610, so I'm wondering what's causing the issue -- whether it's on my end, or if it's crippled somehow by Motorola or T-Mobile?

Looking for a pc driver for the phone. My pc wont recognize it.

I know, there are only 5 entries, but my problem is that NONE of them work for me. Do I need to yell, speak slowly, speak with a Texas accent or what? The phone just says "not recognized," or simply does nothing. With or without a bluetooth headset. Any hints for me?

I have and use MPT with my daughter's Razr v3 with no problems so when I thought to try it out with my wife's simpler v195 I found that the phone was not listed within (shows v190) and it will not recognize the phone.

???!

Any thoughts, please?

If the thought of brain tumors scares you then think twice about this phone. FCC allows SAR level max of 1.6
V195 is at a 1.6. Highest of all cell phones.
Not sure what SAR is? Do a Google on it.

I just got a new unlocked Motorola V195. But found the following issues
1) The phone does not ring when it is charging. I made sure that the ring option is loud at all times. Even then it does not ring. I tried to keep ring and vibrate. ANd when charging and when calls come, the phone vibrates but does not ring. Can someone help?
2) The speaker phone also does not work when the phone is charging. Is this some stupid software glitch or is it problem with the phone.

Based just on call quality (in and out), which is a better phone? Are they about the same?

Anyone out there w/ a V195 get annoyed w/ the startup and shutdown chime? My other Motorola (V18😎 did it too. I suspect they all do and I see no option to disable it. I'd also like to disable the keypad sound when dialing a number.

Any ideas?

Are there any headsets out that work with the extended bluetooth. Everything i read is that its blue tooth works 300 feet away from the phone. What good is that if the head sets still only work 30 feet away????

I was wondering if anyone knew where to buy the v197 not the v195, because i like the fact that the upgrade is black. But anyway that is besides the point =) Anyway any help on where to buy the v197 is much appreciated, because i have gone down to the local tmobile and asked and they dont have it and i have looked all over the net but cant find it as well. So i will leave it up to the phone scoop experts to see what they have to offer me =)

Can you tether the V195 and use as a Bluetooth Modem?

I got this phone about 2 weeks ago and I bought it just because is simple, quad-band and has a huge advertised battery life.
I have ~11 hours of talk time and I already charged the battery 4 times (full load-drain cycles).
Anyone else having the same problem?

When will this company get with the program?

I seen that the V195 is classified as class 1 bluetooth not class 2. can any one verify this?

I have a two V400s and the external speaker is okay but not great. Turning it up loud enough to hear over background noise results in a crackling, tinny sound (every V400 I've heard sounds this way).

Can anyone advise if the V195 has the same speaker or has improvement been made in this area?

I just received this phone and although I have almost 100 entries in my phonebook, I can't record more than 5 with a "voice name- after that is says "voice dial memory full- anyone else have this weird problem?
