Hacks, mods for 8300?

Just got my 8300 by FedEx today, NE2 upgrade, and am looking for all sorts of customizable info. on it. For instance, can you program the phone so the VCast screen doesn't appear when you turn it on?

Also, what other modifications do you (anyone) find helpful for this phone?

Finally, I know it has probably been listed before, or is in my user manual, but how do I transfer music from my computer to the phone? I need software and cable package, right?

8300 Stereo sound quality w/mp3? w/Stereo BT?

A few music questions:

How is the sound quality of the 8300 compared to an iPod? A chocolate? A $35 Sony mp3 cd player?

Will it play loud enough w/stereo headphones to listen to it while riding a bus? A ski lift? How's it volume wise compared to an iPod?

How much of an audio quality drop do you experience, if any, by using stereo BT headphone compared to a wired headphone?

What is the a reasonable estimate of the cost difference for BT and wired headphones w/same sound quality?

How does playing mp3's effect your battery life?

Are the other issues w/using the 8300 as an mp3 player? w/ stereo BT headphones for music playing?

I'd like to know if it's feasable to use the 8300 as a decent mp3 player or is playing music jus...

Non-embarrassing, Business Ringtones?

I will be getting the VX8300 in about a month. It seems like it will suit my purposes quite well. One question I do have is, does it have at least one "normal sounding" ringtone suitable for a business environment? If not, how can I download one to the phone? I was on the VZW website and it seems to me that this phone is somewhat limited in the ringers that can be downloaded. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Speaker answering + + +

Hi,

I just got this phone today. I had the Motorola E815 and had many problems with answering it when it was on the speaker.

I am wondering about a few things on the LG/VX8300 that Verizon gave me as a replacement.

1 - Can the phone be answered on speaker without flipping it open?

2 - What are the three soft keys on the cover do?

3 - Does the alarm have a snooze?

4 - Can it be hooked up to the computer to save all the phone numbers in my phone book?

5 - Is there anything I should look out for with the phone? Pro's & Cons

6 - Do you guys like it better than the Razor models that Verizon offers, they were going to give me one and I said I didn't want anymore Motorolas.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Question re Music player software on 8300 vs Chocolate

From what I can tell the music player software on the Chocolate is different than the player on other Verizon phones (like the 8300). It's more like iTunes, which I like. Does anyone know if the 8300 will ever be able to be upgraded to that software? Or is there a way to change it in the secret menu?

Hearing myself through the earpiece?

Anyone else have this problem? When talking to someone I can hear myself through the earpiece. It's not too annoying until I breathe heavily or cough, and then it gets to be very annoying. Is there an option for this I'm not seeing, that I can turn off?

Problem with stereo headphones?

My new VX8300 works fine. I've sucessfully transferred mp3 files to a 1GB Sandisk memory card and uploaded mp3 ringtones to the phone - all with the help of the postings in this forum. (Even saved $20 on the memory card thanks to you guys.) Thanks!

One problem though - rather than buy the $29.95 stereo headphones from Verizon, I bought a $1.99 adapter from Fry's to be able to use standard headphones with the 2.5mm phone type jack.

First the adapter plug would not fit well, since the receptacle on the phone is recessed, but I solved that by filing down the plastic on the adapter a bit. Problem now is I only get one channel through the headphones, as if the plug was not fully in the receptacle, but it seems to fit correctly.

Any...

Best Non-Bluetooth Headset

If anyone is looking for an incredible non bluetooth stereo headset, here is a link to one on ebay. its 15 bux with shipping. i just got it today, and i'm using it with my 8300, and its kick ass. it has 2 pieces, so you can connect your own headphones too, and still use the built in mic. not olnly that, but i plugged it into my car with the cassette tape adapter and it works great. i had my dad give me a test phonecall, and it paused the music, i answered the fone, and i heard him through the car speakers loud and clear. he also heard me great. I'm not selling anything, i just want to share my good find. Good Luck.
If the link doesnt work search for lg 8300 headset. its lg branded.

Vertical Lines

Hi,

On occasion, when I flip open my 8300, I get vertical lines on the screen instead of my normal screen. When I close it and reopen it, they go away. Does anyone know what would cause something like this? It has only happened a couple of times in the 3 months I have had the phone and I wonder if I pressed something that would cause that.

Thanks,

Mark

Weird charging issue

Yesterday I was driving home on a long trip and charged my phone with the car charger, only it wasn't charging. It would "charge" for a minute and then say charge complete, but I would unplug the charger and then the low battery message would come up and the battery indicator would show depleted.

I thought it was the car charger, but I tried it with two more chargers at home and the same thing happened. I also tried swapping the battery.

So I plugged the phone in to the charger last night and went to bed. When I woke up it was fully charged. I was going to go to a VZW store today but now it's charged and unless it happens again there's no point because I won't be able to demonstrate it right now.

I've had the phone for about ...
