Samsung MM-A920

Hey everyone

I just got rid of my treo 600 and replaced it with a samsung a920. My old treo used to sync easily with my mac but I am not having any luck with the a920.

Most importantly I am trying to import my vcards. I have found work arounds to do it using bluetooth, however I don't have bluetooth on my computer.

I exported all the vcards (100+) and moved them to the tranflash card and put it into the phone.

I don't know what to do from there though, i mean the music in the media folder gets read fine, but there doesn't seem to be a way to just access the flash card. Is there a way to import these?? I would much rather be able to do this then retype over 100 contacts.

I downloaded the phonebook application from the Samsung website. It backs up the phonebook as a ".pbo" file. I've searched and can't find a reader or editor for this type of file. Does anyone know how to read or edit this file on a computer?

I'm new to J2ME, but I've found awesome applications for it. I'd like to know what others are using, so if you have one or two that are usable on the 920, let everyone know.

My favorites are:

opera mini web browser: so much easier than the sprint one.

google maps: access to gmaps on the phone. simply awesome and works better than every other one I've tried.

After doing some web research I found at least one post saying that the new 2GB microSD cards dont work in the Samsung A920. Here's a clip:

"The phone seems to recognize the free space, reporting total card size, etc.
However, the phone doesn't seem to play all of the MP3 files on the card. After deleting starting from the first mp3 that would not play, I am left with 1GB of files...The funny thing is that all the file names from ALL of the files, even the unplayable ones, display OK. The phone even reports bit rate, and other info for every file"

Has anyone else experienced this with the 2gb cards? If this is true, then I want to double the number of songs I can fit on my 1GB card by switching from 128Kbps Mp3s to 64kbps HE-AAC f...

I have been getting animated picture mail but they will not move on my phone, the only way I can view them is to go online. is there something I can do to my phone that will allow those picture animation to work.. This phone does great things but something so simple it does not, strange

i just got my a-920 and am liking it so far. the only thing is that when i plug in the usb adapter for the microSD card i dont know how to put the music onto the card. please help with this. also what format do the files have to be in. can i just take them off itunes.

i recently had the opportunity to get this phone for a good price. i might activate it with sprint..but...my sister who is on Cricket needs a phone. Can this phone be flashed over to Cricket?...they are both CDMA..right? Anything I have to worry about?????

Is it possible to record voice clips of more than 30s lenght with any third part software? if so what sotware can i use? I am planning to record 1 hour long programs on my 1GB card that I have with the phone.

are there any free GPS softwares available for the a920 ??

Does this phone not accept them? I've been trying to send this one particular one that was on my old phone to this one and it won't accept it for anything!!!

i was also looking for a way to shrink my music files but keep them at a good quality. what would be a good free program to do this.

Has anyone gotten a set of stereo headphones to work with this phone. Im planning on ordering an adapter but want to know if this has worked for anyone. Thanks.

It seems logical but I cannot figure out how to do it...How do you transfer 30s clips to your pc from the phone? I have a new apple macbook pro.

i am most likly going to get this phone on tuesday and had a few questions before i purchase this phone. thank you in advance:
has anybody used a service such as rumpkin.com where you created your own ringtone, get a jumpcode, and download it on you phone. if so, if i have sprint power vision is it totaly free to download the file. also with sprint power vision how is the tv service. can you watch things such as sports center. thank you for the help.

Where can I get soft wear to use my phone as a modem

You´ll need the memory card in order to make this possible.

I´ve only learned how to put in images (wallpapers) on the memory card (Images i can get for free on the internet, and place them as wallpapers for my A920). Just take a picture with the cell phone and save the photo into your memory card. after this take out the memory card and place it in your PC, locate the folder in wich the image is saved, and simply place alll the images your memory card can take.

There must be some way i could do this same thing BUT with the ringtones Please Help !!!!

Anyone know for sure if a 1GB card will work with this? I suppose it's a little too late to worry about it because I ordered one but I was hoping that someone might know for sure. The people at the sprint store sid it would take whatever you put in but I know with computers you can hook up a 200 GB hard drive to a motherboard that only supports 100 GB max. Any input is greatly appreciated.
