Verizon Can't Activate my VX8000!

New VX8000 User

Nov 24, 2004, 4:22 PM
I just finished charging up my new VX8000, called the Verizon activation number and found out that Verizon has not figured out how to activate the new phones yet. The "activation specialist" I spoke with suggested I call back next week! Anyone else succeed in getting their phone to work? 😢 😢 😢

My phone is working fine. Are you in the DC area? Which number did you call for activation?

I called the 800-622-8003 number that was indicated on the Customer Receipt that came with the phone. The individual I talked too said that there were a couple of trouble tickets opened on this issue.

Did you try 611 or just going to VZWs website and switching the ESN on your account page?

Same here. My trouble ticket calls for action within 48 hours, so it is looking like Friday for me.

Hmmm...Does "RS" mean "Retail Store"? I have spent about 30 min working with Verizon's activation department (800)622-8003 and another 45 min working with Customer Support at (800)922-0204. The customer support rep was very nice and spent a fair amount of time talking to the technical support folks, but no joy. Apparently there is a "feature code" that needs to be added to my account, but no one seems to know what the "code" is. After some discussion, I am guessing that the marketing department that is sponsoring the VX8000 trial was supposed to add the Get It Now Mobile Media feature to my account, but somehow failed in that task and they are the only ones with the necessary code. Unfortunately the Central Marketing Office (CMO) is now...

I had the same problem. Ultimately I called the number I initially called to volunteer for the trial, and they were able to help.

Hmmm...oh yeah i forgot, u need tham MM feature. I don't know if we can add it, but we should be able to. Try going to radioshack, they can show you the features list that can be added while in the process. I live in Fairfax.

Careful with that. the feature is only made avalible for certain times of the day (3:30pm-6:00pm pst on the west coast) if the phone is activated with out that feature the customer will be contacted and requested to return the equipment for not getting meeting all our requirements.

Well after spending over an hour on the phone with the Activation Dept, and two separate calls to Customer Support I was told I needed to call the Marketing office that had sent me the original offer when the opened for business on monday. I called the number for the trial offer this morning only to get a recording that the offer was over and that all questions needed to be referred to Customer Service!!! I am currently on hold with Customer Service. They can't add the needed Mobile Media feature to my account and are on the phone with a supervisor in Tech support who also can't add the feature. They get the same recording I got when they call the Marketing number. The Customer support rep was very nice and indicates that the Tech suppor...

Call Verizon Telesales @ 1-800-2JOININ. Mobile Media can only be added to an account between 4-5 p.m. Good luck!

Thanks for the help. I actually got a call back from customer support this morning. They had worked pretty hard to track down someone who could add mobile media to my plan. Phone activated easily after this was accomplished. Works great. Speed of downloading streaming video is pretty impressive.
