The key is to find the plan that suits you best. This nokia phone looks very nice, so if you are looking for a great phone the 6230 is it for certain. Now for the phone plan... you did not say how many min. you wanted with your plan only that the 3000 t-mobile plan did not have enough text messages and that the nextel did not have enough out going min. What I cn tell you is that you can get 1000 text messages for 6.99 and 300 for 2.99 from t-mobile on any one of there plans right now. You can also get more min. on your nextel if you get a greater plan... but it is gonna be a lot more costly. There are two things working against you right now. One that t-mobile no longer offers free nights and weekends on the 3000 reginal and that nextel does...

A very quick question. If I were to say, really want to have wireless through t-mobile. Can I buy this phone and have t-mobile activate it even though it may not carry this phone? If this is possible, how do I determine which providers this phone would work with.

If your hell bent on T-mobile.. they will force you to pay to activate a phone they carry. You can just get the cheapest GSM phone they offer (free if at all possible) and then purchase this phone unlocked and throw your SIM card in and you will be good to go. This phone should work with any GSM provider (ATTWS/T-Mobile/Cingular)

You can go to just about any t-mobile retail store here in Orlando and buy a sim card without buying a phone. I've sold them before, I wanna say they charge 20 bucks for a sim without a phone.

Or you could simply get the free phone when you sign up and use the "free" sim card in the 6230.

Sorry dude was not trying to argue with you, I was just pointing out that you were inccorect; t-mobile does not force you to activate a phone that t-mobile carries.

lol.. dude, the point of my response was, why spend 20 dollars for something you get for free. And as far as not charging you activation, are you telling me if I walk into a Tmobile store and sign up for new service they will not charge me the activation fee because I'm a good guy?

nobodys sayin you should do that all were sayin is that you can use any cell phone that works on the same frequency as what t-mobile operates on and that my friend is the key to getting the plan you like and the phone you like too. For instance i use the nokia 6800 which is not a phone that t-mobile offers it is however a phone that i picked up for next to nothing through att and then i had it unlocked on line for a couple bucks and wahlah ive got the phone i want with the service and plan that i want. 😎

If you live in VA, NC, TN, SC, or GA look up SunCom, they have a plan called the "UnPlan", that lets you talk all you want...
