BlackBerry Pearl 8100

Lets be real about this blackberry maps feature, can someone please tell me if it really works as good as the blackberry website hypes it up to be?? Thanks for any advice, greatly appreciated!!

how does browsing on the internet on the blackberry compare to the iphone? My brother has an iphone and the web browser blows me away because its just like what you see on a computer screen, and its not "watered down" like most other (of not, all) cell phones. Is the blackberry like the iphone?

Does anyone know if I can save word documents on my Pearl to use as email attachments when I send out emails from the Pearl so that I don't have to get on my real computer to send the attachments?

I'm thinking about switching from the Treo 680 to the pearl. This is my second replacement. I've checked the user reviews and want to know what the users of both phones have to say. I'm tired of my treo locking up or rebooting. The battery life SUCKS. It costs at least 20 bucks for a decent game. And now my speaker seems to going nuts cuz I'm hearing static now. I've had my treo 680 since Nov.06. Any thoughts???

Anyone know when the Pearl 2 will be available? Some websites like boygeniusreport.com reported September time, but I have not heard anything recent. Anyone got info?

The spring on the battery door came off, I cann't seem to get it back on. Called cingular they wont replace the phone as this is not a defect.

Any way to fix this thing or no.

So I have a 2gb transflash memory card, I had a few files on it that the blackberry didnt recognize and was a little stumped until on the blackberryforums, I ran across the fact that I had to format the memory on the blackberry first. So I formatted it and then pulled out the transflash card, slid it into the sd converter, and popped it into my computer. Pulled up the card and now it has a blackberry file system on it. Ok, so I go to the music file then try to copy some file into the file only to get the error, this disk is write protected please remove the protection. ????? Any clue guys? I also tried to reformat the card in my computer and it wouldnt let me for the same reason. So help please.

I'm in the market for a new phone. I'd like to get a Blackjack, and one of the main reasons why is the Mobile Office (Word in particular). However, AT&T is giving me the run around about getting the cheaper MediaMax data plan instead of the PDA Connect. I'm thinking about just saying forget it and going with either the Blackberry Curve or Pearl and their $30/mo data plan.

Does the BB Curve or Pearl have a word processing type software feature, something roughly equivalent to Mobile Word? Ideally, I'd like to be able to load .doc or .rtf file to the phone and be able to work on it.

I haven't been able to get the browser capabilities to work just yet. I called AT&T and they explained that Blackberries use a dedicated server and that the pay-as-you-go data plan is not compatible. I'd have to purchase a $30 monthly Blackberry Data Plan...boo to that! Is there any way I can access the internet from this phone without this huge charge? I only use it on rare occasions.

I have a refurbished Pearl without a battery and just need to know what battery to get for it!

Does the Pearl come with a data cable through AT&T? I also have a Bluetooth USB adapter, will that work in place of data cable, or do I have to spend the $25 on the sync cable?

I recently came across a MiniSD wifi card. The website states that it is compatable with the BB pearl. Does anybody have any experiance with this product?

When I put the battery in my phone, it shows an hourglass for several minutes and then loads the main menu. I can scroll around fine, but I can't get into any of the menus or operate the keypad unless I remove the battery and reinsert it. Then I can usually get into a menu before I have to take the battery out again. Is there a phonelock I'm not aware of?

I'd like to be able to get into the options to reset the phone.

Does anyone know how to add A2DP Bluetooth Stereo Headset capability to the Pearl?

I thought that I had seen something in the forum about removing the pesky "ABC" icon from the home screen. It's on the top right hand corner and blocks the signal indicator and other things in different applications. It's useful when you're typing or texting but when you aren't doing that I don't have a need for it to be there. If there is any help out there, please send it my way. If it's already posted then direct me to that post.

Does anyone know by chance when the new pearl operating system is supposed to be available? mines has glitches with the messages erasing, and after three pearls with the same issue, its got to be the OS, so does ne one know when it comes out??? thanks!

I tried to love it. I really did! But for all of its bells and whistles, its glossy lipstick and high heels, it's just not the BB! I understand it never claimed to be, but still it sucked me in like a moth to a flame! So while it hurt so good to stray for one week, it's Back in Black(berry) for me! LOL!

I currently have a sidekick 3 but im thinkin about getting a pearl. should I get the pearl or just stay with the sidekick?.....oh and if I do get the pearl would t-mobile charge me if I changed my sidekick plan to a blackberry plan?
