Re: New phone advice
Hope this reply isn't too late.
The unlocked Moto X Pure is available for purchase through Motorola.com or Best Buy (lately 16MB for $299, which is a $100 price drop from original).
Seemingly indestructible. The Moto Store in Chicago demos the Moto X Pure by dropping them from waist height onto a granite surface with nary a scratch to the phone.
Also the Moto X will operate on all U.S. CDMA and GSM carriers with the appropriate SIM.
Coming from a Gen I. Moto X the drawback is its near phablet size. But the Moto X Pure is just way more robust and it runs Android Marshmallow smoothly.
Old business model
They can't use their original business model any longer with the big boys bringing out equally great phones with equal or lower price points.
Motorola and ASUS gotta be putting the pinch on OnePlus at this point with immediate availability and tons of customization options.
Now if they can just get Verizon and ATT on board...

MWC 2017
All great phones from flagship to affordable budget.
Motorola(Lenovo) needs more phone memory storage.
LG G6 using an SD 821 instead of an 835?
Those are the only two minor issues otherwise the Sony being pricey, the S8 and the I-phone 8 are most likely going to be the best sellers.
All depend on personal tastes and needs which makes the competitive market a great thing.

Re: So.. the same as the Moto Atrix?
The same, except you know, it will work.
Motorola had great ideas, they just ALWAYS had issue making them work in the real world.
That's why they don't exist as anything other than a name anymore in mobile.
On a side note, I've never been a fan of trying to turn my under powered cellphone into a desk top. Even on Microsoft's continuum it doesn't work well.
They should have bought ESChat
Too bad Motorola Solutions didn't buy ESChat (www.eschat.com). ESChat's 3G/4G PTT is phenominal. ...
Re: They should have bought ESChat
If I'm not mistaken, Kodiak is the system used by one or more U.S. carriers already. If that's the case, there are going to be contracts and therefore revenue already in place. I've never heard of ESChat. They may have a better system, but Motorola/Lenovo would have to convince carriers to switch platforms and abandon all the hardware already in place in order to get on board. That's much harder than buying an established player and continuing on with agreements that are already in place. And it may be that Kodiak was ready for a sale whereas ESChat wasn't.
Really not a fan
Of these Motorola phones anymore. Bring back the the Droid line! ...
I was going to GUESS Motorola...
...but then I read it would be the X4 on another site. My guess was base on the fact that the G4 and G5 Plus have had the radios for all U.S. carriers, so it would just be a software update to make them compatible with Fi.
Still doesn't provide much incentive to switch since unlimited is currently back in vogue with the big 4.
