Late Payment.. What?
Ok.. USCell has this thing that if you are 80% through your contract you can resign and get new equipment. I had a customer who had lost his phone and was 10 days away. So I call into relations and ask if we can do it early for him. The guy with USCell asks to talk to customer. SURE! I hear bits and pieces, the customer has a bad pay history with us and he is pissed. Relations explains that his bill is due around the 7th of every month and it's always paid late. The customer says that he sends all his bills on the 17th so USCell needs to change his due date to meet his needs. DUMBASS! Relations approves his upgrade anyway and the customer starts to argue with me!

I have people ask me all the time if I can change their billing date, but I have never had customer relations be like that about the payment history on a renewal. I guess he is a special case though. But we have had several people cancel in their trial period because their disability check came a certain time and the due date of the first bill is not on schedule with that.

I just don't see how people can be that bad with money. I'm pretty sure all of us have been poor at some point, only a rare few of us are born into families where they'll never want for anything. When you're porn, you learn NOT to spend money on crap. That way you get to do things like eat, bathe daily, and have a room to sleep in. That turns into a budget, and as you go on in life hopefully you wont be poor eventually.

But there are people like the one lady who went nuts on me because we wouldn't give her a $400 phone for free or waive activation on the new line she wanted to add (on a side note she was adding a line to a family plan at $10 a month and she was pissed as hell about THAT too, wanted that line to be free.)
She screamed that she wanted me to cancel all her accounts and she was going to Cingular (have fun with that one ma'am, they're not going to give you any of the crap you want either.) When I told her I'm sorry, you'll need to speak with customer care for that she told me I was just being difficult.

I won't hold it against you. I used to teach Biology and I had the kids identify certain animals by common name and scientific name from posters I had. I had a kid who was brilliant bright who used to identify a prong horn as a porn horny every time. He didn't even gripe when I counted it wrong.

I hated working receivables management. Like one of my other posts stated I had some lady call in 3 years after her phone had been shut off and wondered why it didn't work.

I'm not even sure USCC can change billing dates. For example, all phones purchased in my area have billing dates from the 8-7th and the bill arrives around the 15th and is due on the 28th. North of here, the bills are from the 15-14th and bill around the 30th and are due on the 8th. That's just how it is, the only way I know of to change the billing date, is to move to a different market, like from OKC markets to Tulsa, or St Louis. That's the only way to get it to change. Didn't USCC change from 80% to 75%? We can renew after only 18 months now, and a year and a half is 3/4 of 2 years.

They change, but not individually, ours used to be the 23rd, now they are the 3rd, so everyone who renews is still the 23rd but new lines are always 3rd, but its different not just in markets, but even in the same state, 3 hours west theirs is another date and 3 hours southwest they have a seperate date.
