Each phone manufacturer has it's flops, so I'd never give one company a blanket rating.

I've been doing this for a long time and I will never carry anything but Nokia. The only reason people buy moto is for the "cool factor". I'd rather have a phone that works.

What service does moto get better reception than Nokia?

USCC. (This is completely based off of feedback from my customers) The Moto 266 gets great reception, apparently. The 266 is also the worst phone on the face of the earth, in my opinion. 95% of my defective phones are Motorola. 90% of them are Motorola 266.
