Don't know, don't care, or simply state the amount of time they have been a customer. Then continue with something like:
"It doesn't change the fact that YOU broke your phone by putting it through the washing machine 3 weeks after buying it. It doesn't change the fact that YOU declined insurance. You will have to pay the full retail replacement cost for a new phone."
