So I work at a cart in the mall (yeah it sucks our new store is opening in a few weeks). We have to show up early to open everything but we leave the case lights and such off till we open at 10am. Never fails some asshat walks up and wants to pay a bill. I tell them we are not open yet and that we will be open at 10 like the rest of the mall. Some of them even have the nerve to get all bitchy with me. I make them wait till right at 10 before I will help them. God I wish I could punch these people in the face. I would feel so much better.

We even get that at stores. Some people will just walk in with me. I tell them we are not open yet and they start on their speech about such and such and follow me in. I usually try to kick them out but if its only like 5 min till open (it doesn't take long to open) I let them stand there but refuse to talk to them till I get all set up.

Although the other day I let the alarm go until it sounded like a siren. The customer got all freaked out and said he would come back later. I was amused. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Had a customer come in 10 till 5 (the time we close on the weekends) and I had no issue helping her. At five I shut off the open signs while still helping her set up a new phone. At 6 (I close at five) I'm still helping the same lady when someone guy pulls in the parking lot. I go to the door and explain that I am closed and we open at 8 the next morning. He gets pissed. "Well I was gonna give you some commission; I need a new phone." I apologized but I needed to get home. (I didn't, but I wanted to!) He asks if any other stores were open and I explained all those close to me closed at 5. He stomped off and I returned to finish with my current customer. She said "that's a lot nicer than I would have been. You need to get out of here at some...

I believe that all people should work a mandatory 2 years in some sort of service industry(cell phones, resturantes, cashier). Then that way they will understand that we are people not just robots here to serve them.

I never go into a store that is closing in 10 mins or less. The only time I would is if I need something really bad and could get in and out before they closed. I know how it is wanting to go home and some jerk make you take longer.

I had these repeat customers (as in they repeatedly came in and asked the same mundane questions five times) finally the time they decide to buy they come in 10 till close. Fine, I can deal with it. When 7:00 hits I go turn off the open sign and then finish helping them. So they mention that I am closed "but at least I am making lots of money" off them. ๐Ÿคจ
I had a class to be at by 8:00, something I mentioned in passing. They went on to ask every single question possible about phones, plans. Most of it was stuff they just wanted to "clarify".
Again wouldn't be so bad but they KNEW I had somewhere important to be AND worst of all they had an attitude the entire time like they were the most important thing I could be spending my time on....

I couldn't agree more! I thought that when I worked at a fast food chain when I was teen and jerks would come in and complain about silly things and raise a fit.

I would have sold him since you didn't do any closing procedures. On another note, who the **** closes at 5 pm?!

If people aren't jerks about it, I will let them in as soon as I am ready to open, even if it's early. If people are pushy, I make them wait down to the second. At the end of the day, if I was finishing paperwork or doing inventory, I would hide under my desk or in the closet with the phones if I saw someone pulling in. I didn't have time to get into the back room by the time I would see the car or headlights. I would hide because people in that area would pound on the door and say stuff like "I see you. I know you're in there. Let me in." etc, etc. Some would even wait until I was trying to leave then would try to force their way into the store. I called the cops a few times to have people escorted off the property so I could go home...
