Any Option to Delete/Edit?

Is there any way to delete/edit one's own messages, assuming that they have not been replied to?

Thanks in advance!

In general, we prefer that you simply follow-up with a message saying "ignore that" or correcting any mistakes.

However, if it's absolutely critical - like you will definitely be fired if it's not removed immediately - you can report the message to the moderator with a request and a reason it should be deleted.

We have the final say, though. Users are responsible for their own messages and we make no promise we will choose to delete.

There is no way to edit. Not even we can do that.

And, as you mentioned, it does matter whether people have replied yet. We are less likely to delete messages that have any substantive replies.

It would be nice to be able to edit, say perhaps leave the original txt (so if comments are made, they still seem relevant) and have a gray'd out box (or somethign to differenciate) with the edited or desired txt. sometimes an update or correction reply may be 15 post/replys later, and completly missed.

what if somebody were, hypotheticly of course, to have posted a comment that they wanted to remove. Without having the knowledge discussed in this thread, the only thing they can think to do is create another s/n and request that the comment they made with their other s/n be removed, citing it as offensive or something.

Do you automatically remove a comment if it is flagged, or do you evaluate the message to determine whether or not it deems removal?

Thanks! I was just curious 🙂

I don't understand the reporting process, but you can report your own comments. Hopefully said user would realize this before creating a seperate SN and reporting themselves.

I was thinking it might be more effective if another user were to report it rather than yourself...at least you'd have a better chance IMO.

If it's offensive or inappropriate, we'll delete it no matter who reports it.

You should not create extra, unnecessary usernames. That's discussed in the Terms of Use.

There is no need, anyway. You can report your own messages.

In fact, if you want your own message deleted, you should do it while logged in as yourself. We can see that you are requesting your own message for deleting; just by being logged in when you report the message, we can verify that you are the one making the request.

When we receive such a request, there's no guarantee we'll delete it. We certainly won't delete for something small like a typo. We'd never get any work done. 😉 In the past, we've deleted messages when someone made a convincing cas...
