If there's no voice package doesn't that mean that all calls will be billed individually? I don't know that you can shut off voice service entirely.

on sprint you can restrict service. You have three options:
1. Contacts Only
2. Special Numbers Only
3. 911 Service Only
And only the pne with the lock code can change it!

There is a Sidekick plan with voice turned off entirely. They call it "voice barred"

Yeah, it should be called voice barred. You need to make sure you ask for the voice barred one. Not the regular one.
Worse case, you can always get the KidConnect plan if the family member already has a tmobile account.

The $29.99 one comes with 1000 text/video/picture messages. Only reason i mention this is because i am pretty they can't get overage on this plan. I'm pretty sure it shuts the voice service down. Not charge a per minute plan. Should be the same with text messages.

With KidConnect, they get 75 minutes (on the 40 buck plan) and when they use them all, they can only use mobile to mobile minutes and weekend minutes. That way, you will not get any overage charges.

thats true... but why would you want ... sprint? You can get the SK3 with a voice barred plan. You will have all the functions of the sidekick but not be able to place or receive any calls. This way... the bill will never be unpredictable or over what you want to pay!
