Pearl 8100
Hey, I am looking to buy the 8100 unlocked. Is there anyone who has done so already who can recommend a website for me to do so. I would greatly appreciate it.

In addition, If I am using an unlocked phone on tmos network will I be able to use all of the features of the phone. I know on cingular you often have to update the phone so that it works with SMS and the mobile web. Is that the same on tmo? if so is it possible to use all the features on an unlocked phone that you would use on a branded one?

With a Blackberry you have to make sure if it has been used that it is not attached to a BIS account because you may not be able to get email on it if it is still set up for someome else's email. If you want to use tZones, you will need to manually bookmark the tZones site. SMS setting are read from your SIM card and/or the network. MMS setting on Blackberry are automatically set on network registration.
Some companies DO disable certain features in their software... you may be able to install the OS of another vender but will likely have mixed results. If you are using a non-T-Mobile 8100 you will not be able to use myFaves because this is only in the T-Mobile version of the OS.

Hmm, so what you are telling me is it is prolly a better idea to just get a tmo branded one and save myself the hassle?

Unless you can get the unlocked one for WAY less money, it is better to get one from the carrier. Also, carriers tweak the software in their phones so that they perform better on their network than a generic one, or one from another carrier would.

Thats what I pretty much assume. But not being a tmo customer I didn't know the loops fully. I am inquiring for a friend of mine who really really wants the pearl now but isn't out of his contract until mid december I believe. I think it may have been resolved however, I do appreciate your input.
