Hey Everyone, I am going to buy a new phone within the next few weeks and I have narrowed my choice down to the Sidekick 3 or the Samsung T809. I will be paying full retail price because I upgraded my contract for another 2 year contract in March for the Motorola PEBL, which I do like, but I would like something new and better. I know both of the phones have their own pro's and cons, but I was needing other people's opinions. Tell me as much and you want/can. You can either recommend a different phone. All help is very much appreciated, Thanks.

well having never owned a sk3 I can only tell you why not to buy a samsung t809 pos.

1. dust under screen
2. flimsy as a credit card
3. ascending ringtones - most annoying thing since crazy frog.

If ur planning on buying a new samsung t-809 from t-mobile they have fixed the dust under screen problem...I have owned one for 3 months and I think its great...i don't think its flimsy and i personally like the ascending ringtones.

I haven't gotten the sidekick yet but from what i hear the reception on the phone has not gotten any better from the SK2...In my area there are many places where I have 1 or 2 bars and I know with the Sidekick 3 i'd have NO SERVICE. I think the first thing to look for in a phone is reception...if u live in a town with full service always...i'd go w/ the SK3!

oh yes ascending ringtones are fine as long as you dont mind missing phone calls left and right, by the time it gets loud it goes to voicemail

What you heard about reception with the SK3 is correct. I got one Sunday, seemed great playing with the sales rep's SK3 in the store; keypad great (better than my Treo 600), nice features, EDGE speed on the browser. But I am returning it today. The reception is really, really bad.

reception is specific to your location, i have an SK3 and a T809. and the SK3 gets better location than my 809 anywhere i go.

Around 700 a month. But I am looking for a decent camera, good sound quality, nice screen, etc. The Sidekick just looks awesome but it's 100 more than the Samsung T809 retail price, which is what I will be paying.

You probably wont pay full retail price most likely you only will not be elligable for the mail in rebates I say goto a store and have a rep walk you through both phones ask for a pcc they will think you are a shopper and will be very thorough with you 😎
