I would like to buy out my t-mobile contract and go on a T-Mobile to-go prepaid account. I am wondering will I get to keep my number when I change over to prepaid?

(Don't get me wrong, I think T-Mobile is wonderful and I am happy with my service, I just can't afford a plan anymore and I will save hundreds by buying out my contract.)

Buy out as in pay early termination fee?
Certainly, you can move to T-Mobile to go - just takes 24 to 72 hours for the process to take effect, and you may need to buy a prepaid SIM

There is no such thing as "buying out" your contract. You can either ride it out or pay the etf. You can transfer your number to prepaid but it takes 48-72hrs. You do NOT have to get a new sim card. They will just trans all of your existing equipment to a prepaid acct. Your TMobile bill will be prorated and you will get 5 prepaid minutes to setup your voicemail. Hope this helps.

Wasn't sure about the buying of a SIM card - don't do enough Postpaid to Prepaid conversions. Thanks for the info - more helpful than Streamline! 🙂 (j/k)

LOL...Oh God don't remind me...I remember the Streamline days vividly. The trick to using it is knowing where to go and NEVER using the search engine.

I hate it when reps use the search engine and then don't learn how to get there by using the path. The path is a lot faster.

If you are in fact under contract with T-Mobile (this can be found out by asking when you call), the price to move to pre-paid would be the $200 early termination fee. If you are not under contract then the it would be free. As was said before, your existing equipment and number will stay the same and it will take up to 72 hrs to complete the conversion. You will also be given 5 minutes to "Set up your voicemail". Hope that helps.

I am contract free! T-Mobile to-go service is very cool. I like it a lot, and there's no contract which rocks.
