I work for a Cingular Agent company but I kept my tmobile phone (personal preference). I wanted to know if TMobile has any kind of agreement with Cingular to use some of Cingular's towers? If thats true then I'm never gonna switch to Cingular no matter what my coworkers say.

I THINK they HAD a mutual agreement where they would ROAM off each other's towers... I dont think they have those agreements anymore... I might be wrong though...

Yup it's true. I can roam on Cingular towers here in Michigan and when I visit Ohio. To see if it's available, go to your settings and then to network. Look at your available networks. Right now mine says T-Mobile, Cingular, and Centennial. You can only switch to the other companies if their signal is higher than T-Mobile's.
I always do that when I visit my parents. At their house, T-Mobile is weak so I switch to Cellular One.
Gotta love T-Mobile for no extra cost for using other people's towers.

This is true to an extent... T-Mobile and Cingular have agreements to roam off each others' towers in some areas. There are some restrictions (for example, in some states mobile to mobile calling will not be unlimited if you're roaming on Cingular towers, even if you have that feature), but for the most part T-Mobile subs can pick up Cingular's network in a lot of places.

I have also heard that Cingular is trying to get rid of these agreements, but I dont know how valid that is.

It wouldnt say Cingular at all if you werent on their network... it always shows what network you're actually on, which is why is usually says T-Mobile on the screen. In most places, even if it shows that Cingular is an available option, if there is ANY T-Mobile service available it will say not allowed or registration error or something if you try to select Cingular. It might also say that if we dont have roaming agreements with Cingular in that particular area.

I doubt that Cingular would be trying to get rid of the agreements because without it they would have less coverage themselves.

T-Mobile can roam off of Cingular towers. Hence, the change in all of T-Mobile's latest phones including the 850 MHz band. If you take a look, only the older models of T-Mobile's phones do not include the 850 MHz band.
