Nokia 6101 Faceplate Question

LilShorty

I didn't think that the 6101 faceplate was interchangeable, but I did manage to find faceplates for that model of phone. Before I bought one, I wanted to find out, how easy is it to replace? It seems tough, but don't want to attempt on my own yet. Is it supposed to be interchangeable, or would removing the factory faceplate be a warranty voiding action?

It would technically void the warranty to change the faceplate, but as long as you keep the original and can replace it before you send it back you will most likely be ok. Most malls have a kiosk where someone who does that a hundred times a day can take care of you. They would probably be willing to replace the original if a warranty issue did come up as well

The nokia 6101 does not have interchangable faceplates. so if there were any physical damage done to the phone when you or the person that sells you the faceplate changes the faceplate, the it will be out of warranty. (100.00 fee) I'd recommend not changing it. go to skinit.com and get a vinyl cover

Thanks for all the info. Seeing as it looks very complicated, I don't trust me or anyone at a kiosk to do it, especially since this is actually my 2nd 6101, the first one accidentally having been dumped in the toilet, so my husband would kill me if I had to pay the OWF. Thanks for the skins site.

I looked at the face plate exchange as the one I have cracked in the cold weather by the hinge. The replacements are just as "chintzy" as the original so why bother.

When the first 6101 went into the toilet the Gods were sending you a message, this is where they should all go. This has to be one of the most poorly constructed phones made.

Shame on Nokia for putting their name on this phone.

the faceplate is simple to remove and replace you simply flick off the little cover inbetewwn the phone and front screen use a t9 (Sears) screwdriver to unscrew 2 screws and you're good (and switching back and forth is just as simple) the guy at one of those mall Kiosk places showed me and my GF how and after I ordered a few from Ebay she put them on before I even got home, so it's really simple.
