If you compare their old brochure with the new one they just came out with for the new promos the coverage area looks quite a bit larger through-out the United States! Some areas that used to be roaming are now digital areas!! Looks like they've finally started to really make their network bigger and better

I agree but the improved areas are from roaming agreements.

I feel that the new coverage maps on the new rate guides are just a sign of a change in game plan. For about a year we offered our customers true and accurate coverage maps. Even giving them tools to see street level coverage from anywhere. It was more accurate then I thought possible. Unfortunately people believe anything that is printed on a brochure and listen to anyone who uses big words. Everyone freaks out about coverage across the nation. They can live in the middle of suburbia and never leave and still be concerned about rural areas. I guess this is why GM sells so many Hummers. Many carriers on their maps will cover any licensed area regardless of service. On some maps I see areas covered with no roads or places at all. Oth...

And this matters why? Their coverage is improved. Why do you care whether it's provided by a roaming partner? You sure don't pay any more for the coverage provided by a roaming partner? Did you ever stop to think that maybe just maybe it's more cost efficient for them to provide service through a roaming partner than to go to the expense of installing infrastructure in an area?

First of all, did you hear me complain about the coverage? NO! I just replied back to the person who said that they had native coverage showing on the brochure map. All they did was make the map one solid green color, instead of the two-shaded green like on the old map. And, I know its cheaper for them to use other carriers for coverage, instead of them building more towers in rural and in some urban areas since they don't have that much as much spectrum like Cingular or any other US major carrier does.

Well, the tone of your message was that somehow it's not "as good" to have a roaming partner do your service rather than having your own native service. If I misinterpreted your messag...

There are some features that may not work with roaming partners. You can't just press 1 to check your voicemail, for example and 611 doesn't always go to T-Mobile customer care. It sometimes goes to the customer care of the company that owns the tower.

That used to be the case a lot of the time. Now however even if you are roaming very often you can key 611 and get T-Mobile CC though not always.

And as far as pressing 1 for voicemail that should work wherever you are provided you have put the correct number in the correct format. If you have your voicemail set up for the voicemail number to be +18056377243 it will work from anywhere in the world should you feel so extravagant as to c...

They aren't officially going public with their new roaming agreements on the 850mh range. They are trying to figure out how to market it. They don't want to market it to the people who live in areas where they would roam almost all the time, that would cost T-Mobile too much money in roaming charges. They want to focus on the people in the already covered areas, who ocasionally travel to the new roaming areas.

Here in Central Mass there is no more coverage, still holes all over the place and virtually no coverage at all once you get more than a mile from a major road. Now they do seem to have fudged their coverage maps to make it look like areas that had borderline coverage before now have good coverage and some areas that had no coverage before now have borderline coverage. It just ain't so. I drive from Worcester, to Spencer everyday and have 3 places within the Worcester city limits where the signal ditches, then in Leicester it's very touch and go. No coverage in Paxton, Holden, etc. They need to get more coverage, but not by just making it up on their maps.
