Tmobile Reps Question about LNP and pricing

Quick question Tmob reps. I am currently ATT/Cing and am off contract. If I come over to Tmob with LNP to keep my same phone number, will I be able to get the cheap phone deals I see on amazon.com and other such websites?

Also, I will want to bring two other cellphones from Cingular (not former ATT straight Cing customers) and keep the same phone numbers and sign up for a family plan.

But I don't want to pay full price for new phones.

Comments please.

you will get discounted pricing on any new activations. The cheapest deals I found were at wirefly.com

I guess I should of explicitly asked this but, does LNP porting of phone numbers disqualify me for "new activation" in the fine print of the contract?

No it doesn not.

Look at it like this. New activation... is the new activation of the new service, just being aboe to take your phone number with you is a new bouns thanks to the FCC.

T-Mo gives you a ton of minutes for a little bit of money every month, which is great about them. Do you want to switch to a company that is going to give you smaller coverage then you currently have now? If you don't travel, than T-Mo is for you. One could argue that their handset select is a lot to be desired. Although the Samsung X475 is a cool phone!

Here's some advice....call Cingular's customer service and ask to speak to the retention department. I have seen customers get really expensive phones for free, hidden "save" plans, and waived upgrade fees. I can't guarantee you will recieve the same but it is worth a shot. Yes, I work for Cingular and would love to keep you around. For the most part they throw just about anything at you,...

I don't mind the smaller coverage because I don't really travel at all. I've got 2 jobs and am a senior in college for mechanical engineering.

But you are RIGHT. Tmob phones don't appeal to me whatsoever. Hey Tmob, where are the plethora of bluetooth phones? If you had the Moto V635 I'd switch tomorrow.
I'm looking for quadband, bluetooth, hi speed data (yes I know Tmob has no hi speed data yet but I don't actually need mobile hi speed data yet but will within 1-2 yrs) and clamshell.
A SD slot doen't hurt either.

I was with ATT since October 2003 and only had a 1 yr contract. I am still pretty upset that they sold the Moto MPX200 POS to me. But it finally broke and I'm getting a Audiovox 5600 in a day or two from lockline.

you'll love that SMT 5600 I promise...

It is one "complete package" phone. You'll see.

Also that is a quad band phone. Just get it unlocked and use it on T-Mobile. I did.

Do a google for "c-500 unlock". You'll find it.

Don't pay more than 35-40 USD though. People on ebay are charging 80+ for the same thing.

Good luck

Looks nice, almost everything I want except clamshell.
And lets face it, I'm pretty clumsy. Which is why I want a clamshell because I know I'll drop ti and scratch the screen sooner or later.

You are right about the mpx200 being a piece. Same thing with the mpx220. Cingular finally yanked it. I can't figure out why Moto can't get it together with their smart phones.

I imported a Moto V635. It was locked to Orange but it works perfect with Cingular including the media settings. It is by far the best phone I have ever owned and I go through around 12-15 phones a year.

Good luck with finals! That is something that I do not miss.
