Anyone have a Blackberry 9530 STORM on TMo Network??

I bought an unlocked one this morning. Voice Network worked as soon as I put my sim in but, NO web capabilities. Tmo reps said yesterday(Sunday) that it was just a simple call to Techs to activate the phone. I started at 3:30pm Monday Jan 4th and it is now 8:30pm with NO resolution in sight. I think the RIM rep. forgot I was on hold. I have been going back and forth between TMo and RIM each blaming the other and offering NO real solutions other than for me to shell out some big $$$ for a TMO branded BB I wish my "wing" still worked. Can anybody offer any solutions??

I sold my 9530 cuz I too was having problems on T-Mobile getting the data to work. The person I sold it to has had no complaints but his wife is user on T-Mobile and not a heavy web user.

My Storm2 RIM9630 works like a charm once it got registered (HRT=Host Routing Tables & something else forgot what it was).

Good luck.

🙂 I love the Storm and other than the once in a while problems it's a great phone. I really wish TMo would've picked it up, matybe in the future. I thought I would hate the onscreen keyboard but, it's pretty user friendly once you get used to it. I have been on Crackberry and some have suggested updating the OS to 5.0 which RIM told me would be unstable on my devive, others say a "Hybrid with Radio V .90 will work ass well, so I don't know what to do.
hnwillis: How does TMo's service map look in your area? Are you a constant 5 bar "EDGE" user? I live in a "GOOD" area on the map and always had a consistent connection with other phones. I find that in my home, service is hit or miss from day to day. I might have "EDGE" one day on the couch a...

Coverage with RIM9630/Storm2 gets 4-5 bars full & EDGE (All CAPS). The RIM9530/Storm I would get good signal with EDGE but when I tried to get on the web it would go back to edge in lowercase.

Mine does the same thing from time to time. I don't know if TMo is messing with me or not. Why would I have a signal and then all of a sudden drop it? What does the TMo coverage map look like for your area? Like I had said I am in a "good" area and never had a problem getting the "EDGE" Network on a TMo branded phone. It all amkes no sense to me. I'll have to look into the Storm2 when I have the money but, if I'm going to spend alot of $$ it will be on the Touch Pro2 which should not give me anymore of these headaches.

Menno: Thanks for your help but, you're right. I did already do this. Had to have it done to even get "EDGE" in the first place. My main problem is keeping a consistent connection from day to day.

Yeah, you'll only get edge on it, as I think it doesn't have tmobile 3g (I know it doesn't have ATT)

sounds like it might be something on the carrier end.. like it's not properly identifying the phone. Do you know how it was unlocked? that might be an issue too.

As far as 3G goes, only VZW customers will get 3G coverage. The phone does not support the 3G bandwiths that TMo and ATT use. My problem is keeping the "EDGE" Network consistently. It seems to go in and out all the time. I thought I was just being paranoid about TMo messing with the Network because I didn't buy their phones, it's good to hear it from someone else. I'm not sure what service was used to unlock the phone. I have read that phones are "locked" to be carrier specific, meaning I couldn't use an ATT service on a TMo phone but, I could still use aspects of the phone that did not rely on a carriers Network Services.
