Geeze, my 500 minute plane flight to Europe cost me $600. That's a good deal!

Sorry, I just couldn't resist...

Actually, that's not true. The plan is grandfathered 100%. It is not an option to offer at activation or to existing customers.

I called into CS for a friend of mine 2 days ago for a customer who wanted that rate plan. They were in the 14 day buyers remose period and the "saves department" gave them that plan to keep them as a customer.

So just go activate a line today, call in later and tell them you want that plan or you will cancel. If they tell you no, then just cancel and pay the prorated bill for 1 day. Chances are you won't even have to pay that. )depending on the CS rep you get)

activations will also let is slide in some circumstances too. i actually had someone working with me yesterday that's been out for 2 weeks and quoted that plan to a cust over the phone. i called in to activate and the girl said that she could do it because she didn't want the cust to get angry and go with someone else.

generally if you're nice to the activation people, they'll hook you up.

What is wrong with you people? A "good" customer would understand that they are just out of luck. Plus, there are sure to be better offers in the months to come. A smart customer would activate anyway and just wait until the better plan came out.

Dont't quote me just yet, but if I read the article on streamline right about the $45.99 plan being grandfathered, it said "no longer offer this plan to customers, however they may still have it if it is specifically requested". This would have nothing to do with retention or threatening to cancel. (However, that is a pretty shady way of doing it, and it's never 100% guaranteed you'll get it)Again, and I repeat as I clear my throat *ahem* before you quote me on that one, let me double check first and I will confirm yay or nay, I'm just making a comment here.... 🙂

The verbiage ties it to possible advertising material still being out there...

That's not right. You shouldnt promote that to the customer. Threatening to cancel is the most retarded way of getting something. If you didnt have the sense to activate while we had the plan (or upgrade to it if you are currently a customer) then you dont deserve the benefits. If you ever got me as a rep I would flat out deny you even if you wanted to cancel. Boo ya!

that's ok. I would just hang up on you and call back in and get someone else to do it. =)

Some people are in a contract that may end in say 1 month and were going to switch b/c of that promotion. Now, they might not. People usually don't like waiting and will take whatever deal is good at the time regardless if something better is coming out in 2 months.

you don't have to activate to get the plans, too. i was on 39.99 for five months and switched to the 45.99 when it came out. it's an extension of contract, but it was worth it.

As an AG rep, retention is part of my daily job. Although a price plan is a very small compromise, there are limits. What I mean by that is if someone threatens to cancel over a rate plan it's an easy deal. That plan also requires a 1 year contract. We'd rather be making $45.99/mo over $59.99/mo than nothing. There are some too, who you just cannot save. Our guidelines as far as retention offers are very broad...we're encouraged to offer solutions relevant to the customers concerns and reaso...

It's so sad to see employees just telling people ways to scam the company. You must really appriciate your employer. People like you make a customer care rep's job miserble.
