Why is TMO a slumlord?

Gooney

I'm with them and happy with their network, but now looking for a family plan. And we want decent phones. Why does TMO persist in avoiding any decent advanced phone? They make sure their phones are Samsungs without WiFI with Proprietary ports, crappy Sony line and just low class phones. No N95 or N96, no Sony X1, nothing good. Just low class. All I need to stay with them is the 5800.... just give us something to work with if you want people to stay with you! Your string and tin can philosophy won't cut it any longer!

Wow. Really? Seriously? I really hope you don't live in america, because if you did you'd know that NO ONE CARRIES N SERIES PHONES! Hate to tell you but those "low class" phones are the standard. Look at every other carrier you'll see phones with the same standards and features as the next with a few exceptions, and those exceptions are the iphone/g1/storm type phones. welcome to america; the country behind the cell-tech times.

Boy, right you are! You'd think after 24 years of reagan-Bush-Clinton-Bush turning the place into a fascist society the companies destroying the country would at least give us some cellular candy to divert our attention!

But no one wants to pay $500 for a handset. They don't mind the "free" or paying $50 for a phone...

If you want to be a European, learn French, become arrogant and rude, and move to Europe.

What are you looking for in a phone? The samsung memoir just launched with an 8.0 megapixel camera that can record video at almost HD quality. Or the behold with a 5.0 megapixel. Both are full touch screens. The G1 isn't too shabby too, and the Curve 8900 came out the other day with GPS, Wi-Fi, Stereo Bluetooth, and a 3.2 mp camera and autofocus

That is exactly what i was going to type. HaHa. Because in Europe people PAY for their phones so they get all the extras!!! If a carrier is going to discount it then most of the time they will carry only the ones they make some major $$$ on.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have considered them all. I really need just a good music phone with WiFi for an occasional net look up. That leaves out the two Samsungs you mentioned, in addition while the Behold isnt bad looking that Memoir with its huge lens just has to be the ugliest thing I've seen. I'd get mocked out of the office, if not the family showing that. We really wanted the G1, despite the reviews claiming bad battery life, but I was told the thing won't boot unless it can call in to Google, requiring a net package I dont need. i manage 700 cell phones at work, and while BBs are the best for what they do, for a casual user I might as well get an old manual Smith Corona typewriter and slam it against my head every time I wanted ...

Have you tried using the 8900? Its quite easy to use IMHO. And its better than any Palm or the X1. Can't really comment on the 5800 because I haven't had it in my hands yet. If you want an N-series for any carrier, buying an unlocked one is the only option...

Yes, couldn't agree with you more! Seems like the people who can't develop a constructive thought to add to a conversation always like to demonstrate their handicap to everyone else!

You can tell by his name he still lives in the 80's. Why can't a get a motorola bag phone anymore!? I mean seriously it goes great with my gray hair. I really think you should look around at all the U.S carriers. You won't find a better line up. Please don't mention the iphone. That garbage is only around because of the tree huggers that love Apple. Hell it can't even send a mms.

Dear sir or madam, perhaps a visit to the doctor would result in some Aricept to go along with your grey hair, for there is innate hilarity in your asking someone NOT to mention something that you, sir or madam, have been the only person to mention!

No, my comment was merely to state that your silly accusation of TMO not caring any quality phones shows how truly ignorant you are. T-Mobile offers everything from your basic phone to phones like the G1 and the Curve 8900. The phones you mention (N95, N96, and X1) are all unlocked GSM phones that are not branded to any carrier. How can you say T-Mobile is a slumlord because they don't offer phones, that, DUH, nobody offers?! Its an asinine accusation. And the X1, HAHAHAHAHA, I thought that phone was going to be sweet, until my SE rep let me use his for a few minutes. What a joke of a phone, a half assed attempt at best. I will agree that the N-series phones w/ Symbian are nice, but once again, they are ONLY sold unlocked. Maybe you should d...
