The MAJOR changes are:
3.2 megapixel camera w/ auto focus
Built in GPS
512 mHz processor
Smaller / sleeker design

Then an updated software (I believe 4.6?)

Check www.tmonews.com for more info. They are generally pretty reliable. Release dates can always change, but this is a pretty certain date.

I have a pearl now and really don't want to go away from a black berry. I'm grandfathered in with the older data plan as well so that is nice!!!

Do you guys think it will be as big as the bold??

What are some other cool smart phones coming out?

As big as the Bold size wise or hype wise? The Curve 8900 is essentially the Bold with UMA instead of 3g. Its supposed to be a little smaller and lighter too...but functionality wise they're supposed to be virtually identical.

Hype wise? No. The Bold was big because it was the first 3g BlackBerry. The 8900 will likely be quietly released, but if its anything like the Curve, will be a very solid and reliable phone.

There is also supposed to be a phone called the "Memoir" coming out right around the same time. It sounds like the Behold but with a 8 MP camera with flash and autofocus. Made by Samsung, and likely to have the same UI as the Behold. Size should be similar too.

Right now T-Mobile doesn't have any phones with 3g that can teather...so you actually gain that capability by not having 3g on the phone.

What you lose is internet surfing and data download speeds. The browser and data download speeds will most likely be faster than your pearl due to the bigger processor, but 3g can be up to 10x faster than EDGE. If you never had anything 3g, you're not really losing anything.

Actually you can teather the t819, tm506, and the 6263...they are not data phones but have the ability to teather 3g speeds.

Well i don't do a lot of looking on the web on my Blackberry so i dont really think i would be missing much on 3g.

does anyone have any inside info onthe HTC SHADOW-2... My kids 2nd SHADOW-1 seems to be holding uP well so far and it is a refurbished one after her original OEM bite the dust inside of two months!

How long after these releases that we can see some bona fide reviews on some of these products?

The phone hasn't been released yet, and our stores haven't gotten live demos yet, so its kinda hard to give a review. Hardware is almost identical to the original Shadow. Its not going to be called the Shadow 2, but instead just the Shadow with HotSpot. It adds UMA support, Window Mobile 6.1 (I'm 99.9% sure on this, but haven't had a chance to check myself), and the body has been redesigned. The new coloring scheme is a little more creative than that plain original Shadow. Also, according to HTC, the scroll wheel has been revamped, but I haven't seen any detail of what that actually means...

thanks smylax... The scroll wheel was one of the areas that went screwy on my kids SHADOW! Also the plug on the chrgr or the fone went bad... We shall see! HTC probably recd enuf returns to justify an overhaul of somesort...

thanks again
