Please Help... Want To Switch. Reception Question 800/1900/900/1800

Ok I want to switch from sprint to t-mobile. Yay!!! 😁

But...My question is.....

My friend has t-mobile and came into my apartment and had no signal..or 1 bar...

He had the Samsung t219 on prepaid... Which only has 850 MHz;1800 MHz;1900 MHz receptions.

I will be getting the BlackBerry Pearl on the flex pay month to month plan. This phone has 850 MHz;900 MHz;1800 MHz;1900 MHz.

Will I get better reception? Or The Same?

I honeslty think it will be a tad better...

HOWEVER...

If you get the Curve instead, and you have wifi set up, it will use the wifi to make calls and it will be CRYSTAL CLEAR.

you can either pay 10 bucks a month and have unlimited calling from any wifi... or not pay the 10 bucks (it would just use your minutes) and you could make/receive calls over wifi...using your wifi as a signal booster

it will be the same. 900 is only for overseas!!! Eaurope if I am not mistaken. There is no 900 coverage in the US. Its 850 and 1900 only.

I heard you can so you need to call them and see. That is the easiest way to find that type of info. Or on their website.

it is against t-mobile's policy to have Hotspots@home with flexpay accounts, for now. So no you cannot have the h@h feature.

I will tell you this, typically prepaid/flexpay coverage is a little less than normal postpaid coverage. try to get a regular postpaid contract if you can.

Blackberry's typically have better reception than most phones as well, so your chances of having better coverage is a possibility.

how's your sprint coverage in your apt?

OK.. his main issue was coverage... not unlimited calling... so he could get a UMA phone and us the wifi calling without the hotspot add on. By doing this he would get grat coverage and it simply would use his minuted instead of being unlimited.

I still disagree.... The whole point of felx pay is so that you aren't limited to certian calling plans like you were when it was called "smart access".

So I disagree with you... I will post info here shortly proving you incorrect.

that is true, having a phone with the UMA feature will give him much better reception.

Flexpay actually has a few limitations still, the biggest being the H@H add-on. I know in the future the little limitations will be currected, but for now that IS where it stands.

Please prove me incorrect. That would make my job much easier. I know you won't though.

you can use the uma feature to get reception over the wi-fi connection of your wireless router, provided you have high speed (non satelite) internet, but currently, you would not be able to sign up for what they have just started calling the talk forever add-on through the flex pay plans, either monthly or annually, sorry. so reception, yes, unlimited calling, no.

I looked it up and it doesn't show the feature available for Flexpay to make the minutes unlimited but I don't see why you can't use the H&H to improve signal.
