Thinking of switching from VZW
I am currently a VZW customer and have been for quite some time now. I had the XV6700 for about 6 months until I decided that paying $100 a month was too much. I ended up selling it. But now I miss the ability to get online anywhere I am. Especially since I'm looking for a new job.
My main concern is coverage. I spend almost all of my time in metropolitan areas. I currently live in Phoenix. I do travel sometimes to Vegas, California, and will have to drive to Minnesota here in the near future.
My buddy works for T-Mobile and loves it. I have one other friend who really doesn't go out of the city and thinks T-Mobile is great.
I'm looking to purchase the Black Berry Pearl. Because of its compact size and versatility. A...

and to answer your question, yes Tmobile offers about half the service of VZW.
You pay more for verizon but you get broadband and you get unlimited nights and weekends and unlimited in calling to 61 million people. thats a much better value then 1000 minutes period if you ask me. You also get new every 2 credit every 20 months (not with tmob) and the verizon network is the best.
hope that helps

How do you know it will be faster than AT&Ts and Verizon, and that its coming in the near future since you are with AT&T? I hope T-Mobile covers more 3G ground than the competition and at a very good price like they do now.
my wife works for aeroflex and was one involved in the test, verizon was slowest, i forget the speed, then att at close to projected umts at 1.46 mbps, and t-mobile that they expected at hsdpa speeds actually came in in hsupa speeds of 3.22 mbps. these tests were conducted using the latest upgraded miNT.

Right now, the few areas that T-Mobile has 3G deployed will be faster, since no one other than the testers a...

my issue is for a nice phone i have to pony up 100-200 up front with tmobile and wait for my rebate. with verizon you get the instant discount online.
besides that, i dont really see a phone i like with tmobile.
i am thinking about staying with verizon and getting the ENV.
does tmobile even offer customers good discounts for upgrade phones?
for example
LG env
retails $349.99
1 yr contract $ 249.99
2 yr contract $199.99
$50 online discount
new every 2 $100 discount
so if i decide to renew for 2 years i will pay $50 for the phone
i was wondering if tmobile upgrade prices were comparable in that way
for example
Moto Rizr
without contract is like $350
with a 2 year its $150 with a $50 rebate
everyline gets that not just the first 1 or 2
which is a big reason why i get alot of familys coming from verizon.
😢
i really can't decide what to do
My reason for switching was also due to cost. I was toying with the idea of getting the Pearl due to it's size/weight and direct e-mail push, also the BB add-on is $10 bucks less, but decided personally on the...

If I were to stay with VZW I would be paying $300 for a phone with a new two year contract. If I switched to T-Mobile I would pay $150 for the phone and about half as much for the monthly fee. I don't think that VZW has BB only plans, but T-Mobile does at a discounted rate. My average minute usage per month is between 300 and 400. That includes nights, weekends, and M2M. Like I mentioned in my first post, I spend almost all of my time in large cities. So roaming isn't a huge issue, but its nice to know that T-Mobile is expanding their coverage area.
I know someone else mentioned connection speed. My buddy who works for T-Mobile and another friend who has VZW went to San Diego and the T-Mo...

I work for a company that rates, tracks, and verifies coverage and usability of wireless services all over the U.S. I am in charge of the Northwest Division and spend a lot of time on the west coast. I use different carriers daily, in different areas, for different things.
By far, Verizon is the most consistent in otherwise rural or dead areas. Verizon's INTERNET is far more useful and reliable than most. And it is simply hands sown the fastest.
That being said, they are more expensive, and have a less intriguing selection of phones. Verizon specifically waits for other carriers to come out with equipment so they can have the mass returns and troubleshooting. It's a fine business idea, but sometimes leaves customers with less ap...

Now, nationwide travel by car is not in my major plans. If I were to go anywhere it would mostlikely be by air. Besides SoCal and Vegas, but they are not that far of a drive.
I'm mainly going to be in metro areas, usually Phoenix or Seattle, so urban use would be at a minimun.
Thanks for all the input. 🙂
