Scammers!!

I have worked in wireless for a long time now, but I saw something the other day that I could not believe! I work in the mall and I was just chatting to the t-mobile rep, as I was standing there, a customer came up to the booth to see if she could qualify for a phone. the rep gathered her info, and ran her credit. it came back with a $500 deposit, then he said "watch this" he changed a few digits in her ss# until it came back with a $0 deposit. I was disgusted!! I could not believe I saw this guy commit identity theft right in front of me!! and that isn't the only thing, i have heard a lot of stories about this dealer and how really shady they are. I would never buy anything from them.

Good idea, something you should be doing is reporting them rather then posting it on a message board. It amazes me to see how much fraud goes on in the wireless industry.

I hate those people. They always hassle me at Southlake Mall in Hobart Indiana. It wouldn't surprise me if it was them, though I'm not the OP.

are you SURE he just switched a few numbers in the social? Because, I know with Sprint, you can just input all zeros and it usually lowers the deposit to $150.

I heavily doubt he just switched a few numbers in the social, because then the credit check would come back saying "call credit center". The Name has to match the Social. Him just randomly picking a few numbers to change in the social without knowing the name is impossible to get credit through.

I think you don't really know what he did, and chances are, it's perfectly legal for him to do it.

Just FYI.

tmobile wont accept all zeros or nines, if there isnt a social its an automatic $600.00 buckaroos. changing the social will reject the application and you must call in to activate so im not sure what you saw but changing a few numbers may be possible but highly unlikely

I even doubt it's possible AT ALL. He must know a default social or something.

Can't be a t-mobile corporate store because you can only run credit once per name. you cannot simply change the social #. the system will instantly reject it and refer you to credit. and unfortunately if the sale was complete that poor woman will have th Risk Assesment Team on her and cancel the line, and she is resposible for the $200 ETF.
I dunno how the third party companies run credit, but i know coporate does not do that. Instant termination for dishonesty and fraud. no second chances.

This has to be Mobile Solution, why oh why does T-Mobile insist on keeping them on board as a reseller? I would think the reputation of T-Mo is much more important to them than company who pumps out the most acts.

Numbers = $$$

if the overall $$$ outweighs the cost of the churn i would say its safe to bet the Pollution will be around for a long time.

i really think the original post is either misinformed, or assumed something. This can't be right.
