Just wanted to know if anyone has this service at this time? ARe you benefiting from it or is it not working? I am about to go with the Nokia 6086 phone. I just moved and I have a weak signal in the house where I am at. I am only getting 1 or 2 bars at all times inside. I need more signal to avoid losing a call. I am not getting it for the unlimited WIFI stuff. I do not need that. I need it for the strong signal strength. After talking with them they are sending me the phone for free and picking up the shipping costs. I already have a router which is compatible with the phone so its a great deal. Goes to show you that you never know what you can get until you ask. Thanks!!

I'm sure it'll work. I've talked to employees who tested it and they loved it.

I have the service and it works great. I live in a 2 bedroom condo 900 sq.ft and I have no problems with WIFI reception. My GSM reception is ok and my original phone was a samsung trace and sometimes I would have no service. I paid full retail for a motorola razor 3Vi and it would keep a good signal to make phone calls. When Hotspot@home service came out I purchased the Nokia 6086 and the D-Link router. You will get full signal in the same room with the router and the further away you are the signal bars will drop
I can make phone calls in the garage with the door
closed. Also it is about 99% static free. Of course the draw backs are a very basic thick phone
and paying extra for the service.

thank you for the reply but that will not be a drawback for me because I am not using it for WIFI service. I am using it for signal strength only. It is costing me zero dollars and the phone is free. The router was 49.99 but a 50.00 mail in rebate comes with it 🤣 I am aware using the hotspot at home in my home without the plan will chew my minutes but I have so many its ridiculous. I am on a golden expired plan of 1500 mins for 49.99 unlimited n&w getting hotspot will just boost my signal thank God!!!

Hotspot will not work without the plan. It doesn't actually boost your GSM signal. What happens is when the phone detects a WiFi signal, it attempts to connect to that instead of the GSM signal. If it can connect to the WiFi, your phone calls are sent to the WiFi, and through the internet, much like Vonage. If you do not sign up for the hotspot service, the internet connection will not be there and it will stay connected to the GSM network, and you will continue to have weak signal problems.

you are not totally correct - i will have the plan
but you have two options to choose. Trust me I have spoken to many different T-Mobile people and they all gave me the same two options. Either $0.00 per month which means your using the service and it is NOT unlimited mins and it takes away from your anytime minutes and it DOES boost your signal. I will get full bars on the WIFI side in the house where I was not getting anything but 2 on the GSM side. The other option I am not taking is the $9.99 a month for hotspot unilimited. I dont need it for WIFI I need it for signal strength as I said before.

FYI quoted from t-mobile "you do not need to add the hotspot at home feature to take advantage of the service". The feature allows you to make unlimited domestic calls placed over a WIFI. If I need a stronger signal I can use the service but it just deducts from my anytime minutes. Which is what I plan to do anyhow because I have plenty. It is not a minutes issue. It is a signal issue and as stated before - It can be done - and already has. Thank you though.

you are correct, the previous poster is absolutely wrong. You don't need to purchase a monthly plan to get better signal through Wifi.

I have searched the Tmobile website, and cannot find where it says you can use @home without paying for the plan. I also visited the Tmobile koisk in the mall (corporate) and they could not verify you could use @home without the plan either. Could you point out where it states you can use the @home service without subscribing to the plan? IT would be great if what you say is true.

It does not say it - however all I can tell you is I have it at my home and am using it WITHOUT subscribing to any plan. Look at my previous post about what I quoted from T-Mobile. Call them up and inquire if your still not satisfied. Good luck.

...I couldn't provide a link, because it is from a "for employees eyes only" site, but here is the copy and paste.

"IMPORTANT: Customers do not need to add the HotSpot @Home SOC in order to use the service. The SOC allows customers to make unlimited domestic calls for all calls placed over Wi-Fi (e.g. home, any HotSpot location, open Wi-Fi)."

I know that I could have just typed this out, but you are just going to have to trust me.

Ok, one more question. Did you have to give Tmobile some sort of notice that you were using the hotspot@home, or did you just get the phone and router and start using it automatically?

Plus the notice is given by you purchasing the router and the handset.
