fyi...cingular reps can no longer access phonescoop.com from work!!! this totally sucks as the site is a great tool for comparing phones, etc...any cingular employees here should pass it on to their sups that we want our phonescoop back!!!

there are two addresses that you can access phonescoop.com

Try both the secured and non-secured address. Note the secured side has the extra "S" in the https://

It's gone from the Center in Halifax. And I have already mentioned it to my TL.

I would say from the last few posts it has nothing to do with Cingular and everything to do with some d**k in Halifax making a decision to try and get are sites scores up. Seeing as we are damn near dead last.

I heard hali was not going to get anymore new Orange projects because of the poor scores. Like 37 of 38 or something along those lines. And that the rumors of orange pre paid was bull. Once the billing systems are integrated the blue reps will all be switched over to TDMA only.

Now thats just what I heard. It's hard to say though. And if your not in the hali center, im sure you dont care 🙂

Well I love this site. It helped out alot when speaking with customers. HOWEVER, I have seen posts by people who said they were reps and had posted proprietary info on this site. This is most likely why it has been blocked. Only takes 1 person to mess it up for the rest of us.

Its no wonder judging from the "venting" many CS reps have done here ripping customers (of which I am one). If I were a Cingular suit I would limit the availability of my employees posting customer bashing sentiment on a PUBLIC forum as well.

Yes, that too! I am so disgusted by the way people rip each other on here. On the customers side, not everyone knows everything about cell phones or technology. I know for a fact that not everyone knows about the billing, cause that's some crazy stuff! We (as reps) are there to help customers. So talking on here to people like they are stupid or have no knowledge is insane and only gives reps a bad name. We only know this stuff cause we are exposed to this just about everyday. On the reps side, there are customers that come at us like we are their #1 enemy (probably because of what I stated above). There are also some customers that let their personal feelings (prejudices, etc) get in the way of us trying to help them and they try to...

If you work in a call center you also have to realize that probably 90 percent of your calls are from customers who are experiencing a problem. You have to keep in mind, they are upset at the company...not you personally. I would bet you have very rarely heard of a call as this, customer "I am just calling to thank you for the great service you provide and hope that you continue doing such a great job". No, these people don't call in. And rightly so. They are happy and will refer people, which is good enough.

So keep everything in perspective!

Still you do have to admit that there are those customers that take it too far when they don't get what they want... They start to include you in their blame of the company and it gets too personal. I had a customer call me an idiot and start cussing me out because he wanted to upgrade and swore he was out of contract, but of course he wasnt and I even had his file with his original contract in my store as proof! He just kept saying you guys are ridiculous! I just want to give you more money but I want a free phone(lol sort of a funny statement)! Thats the point where I ask them to leave until they calm down. Am I wrong in doing so? It doesnt happen very often, but every once in a great while.

Sure. And you move past these. This is a by product of working in an environment where you deal with the public.

Example:

I worked as a manager of a Pizza Hut years ago. I had a customer come in with a buy one get one free coupon. The current deal was buy and large and get another for 7 dollars. So the cupon code naturally showed the 7 dollars off. The customer was fit to be tied because his receipt should show the 11.99 discount (price for first pizza). So I tried logic. I showed him what he would pay for one pizza. Then I showed him what he paid, but he recieved two pizzas. He still did not get it...he was still fuming that his receipt did not show an 11.99 discount. But, I just laugh at ones like this and move on. I mi...

Oh, and you are not wrong with asking someone that is being unreasonable in their requests to leave. Especially if they are starting to make a scene. That is not good for business.

Look at the thread about Sept. 1st rate plans, who ever the idiot that posted that must not have noticed the 'Proprietary information' on the training materials. It's people like this who have ruined it for the rest of us... I realize this is a great forum to talk about Cingular related issues and vent and rant and rave... but peoples stupidity is what got Phonescoop blocked at most call centers...
Thank you...

who cares?
Proprietary info is only proprietary when it is still in your possesion.

Cingular knew that the rate plans would be leaked once call centers got word of them. I am sure that they were more than prepared to deal with a few customers calling before 9-1

Nice attitude.

Oh well. That seems pretty typical lately of the personal morals and ethics of many in this world. Who cares if you agreed to it as part of your job. Who cares if it could get me fired, no one will know. Who cares if I am effecting others with my actions. Who cares if I tell someone wrong info, I'll never see them again...

How has anybody ruined anything for you? Just because you can't read the forum and post (while you should be working anyway) at WORK doesn't mean you have been prevented from posting from home. What idiot would post anything remotely critical of his/her employer in a forum like this from their work computer anyways? 🙄

Well check out this post... someone obviously was. Also might want to do a forum search for different internal systems' names and you will find all kinds of stuff.

I don't think it's fair or accurate to say that phonescoop is blocked because of leaking information. We have to take into consideration which centers were affected before we start jumping the gun, calling everyone idiots and making wild accusations. Stop being so reactionary about it and you'll probably find the correct answer.

Information can be leaked on this forum from any carrier, from any computer. The only thing they would be stopping is people posting sensitive info from work, which will not stop the problem, even if they perceived there to be one. Which I doubt they do. If they did, they would block it FOR ALL CENTERS! Every last one.

From what I can tell on here it's only Blue, and I can only say for certain that Halifax...

If I was the person making the decisions and I had people breathing down my neck wanting answers as to why the center can't seem to do anything right. Isn't it easier to say, "well we initiated this call closing survey to gather some numbers on cust sat and keep reps in line because they know they will have to ask it", or "we took away 3rd party websites that could serve to distract our workers". Than to actually address a problem?

Coming from a Blue center that's at the top of the N.E. market, I don't think it's based on poor performance. Our center is getting the job done so I think it most likely is due to leaking of proprietary info. If you look at other postings on the forums, you'll see info about new plans being posted prior to launch, etc.

Then why isn't it gone from Orange centers? Or is it? It just doesn't make any sense. All I have to do is come home log on and tell everyone what the new plans are. An employee can do it just as easily from home or at work. It doesn't address the problem, if in fact there is one. Whatever the reasons were it was a dirty move, and one that didn't really come as a surprise to myself or people I work with that come on here. Needless to say we are all a little more jaded toward Convergys and Cingular... didn't think it was possible, but here we are.

I used to work for HP at an EDS (kinda like a convergys) and we had full Internet access, hell I could play Doom II (and did!) while on a call as long as I got the job done, in fact the whole cen...
