Please explain plan upgrade procedure.

Okay- my current plan is America's Choice 2, 450 peak minutes with unlimited IN calling and unlimited night and weekends. I also have Mobile Web 1.0.

I am trying to use my NE2 on the website to upgrade my phone to the 8300. When I say I want to upgrade, it gives me a long list of phones it says is 'available with my current plan' and a short list of phones that I would need to get a 'plan upgrade' in order to use. (Whatever that means.) The 8300 is on this short list.

But here's the thing: I go to upgrade and get to the end where the plan summary is. Poof! My unlimited IN calling is gone. Poof! my unlimited nights and weekends is gone. Poof! My corporate discount is gone. It also shows Mobile Web 1.0 still even though I selecte...

I would suggest just going in to a store. Upgrade through an agent and support the local economy. You are on current pricing, so you don't have to worry about being "grandfathered in". However the New Every Two is now "Multi-Tierd" So on lower price plans (you) you don't get the full 100 dollars.

P.S The corporate discount comes off your bill, and probably wouldn't show up on line anyway.

Okay- as long as I know that nothing should change. Just trying to avoid nasty surprises. thanks for the info- this should help!

I've actually been trying to upgrade through an agent because I think someone on this site said the agents get commission. But three days in a row I've waited in line for 10-45 minutes only to be SHOWN the 8300 and allowed to HOLD the 8300 but not permitted to BUY the 8300. Stuff like this turns folks bitter after a while. If Verizon isn't going to let the stores sell a phone they shouldn't be selling it on the website, especially if their sales people work on commission.

We do work on commission! I dunno what store you went to, but they should NOT even be showing the phone if they can't sell it yet. Find an agent who knows what the F$#k they are doing. Good Luck,

P.S. go in about 20 min before closing, were always dead then

to sell these phones on their website weeks before you are allowed to sell them in stores if you work on commission!

I've heard all the justifications on this site for why the confusion/secrecy about phone release dates. I partially agree with a couple of them but still believe there should be a better way to do things.

BUT IN SPITE OF THE JUSTIFICATIONS, they aren't even giving the sales reps a chance if they are releasing the newest products commission-free weeks before the reps are permitted to sell them.

If they want to play secretive games, fine, but then they should not be releasing the phones on the website until ALL stores have a chance to let their salespeople get a commission.

Now I'm even more determined to wait and...

I just wish I knew when the Samsung a870 & a645 will be released to stores, or released at all. I don't know if I'll consider the a915. I'm still debating on a new phone as I'm eligible to upgrade as early as July 1. The Samsung a930 is one phone I'm considering, and it's finally at my local corporate store, but there are limited accessories available for the phone though. It's a wait and see game with the other phones.

I haven't commited to a single phone yet. I still have time. I believe the reason you're wanting the LG VX8300 is because of the UI customization, and a load of other features that the Samsung a930 might not have. The red bars on the main screen don't bother me, like it might for you. I also don't need all the advanced features that others might want. I don't mind the mp3 player (or should I call it music player?), but wish the camera weren't on it. I want a phone that works like a phone first, then any additional gadgets on come second. I definitely want to have a bluetooth headset with my next phone, and that's a feature that will be included.
You would recommend LG VX8300, while a sales rep named Janice, at the Circuit City VZW...
