815 or LG8100?
Oh yeah, you guys HAVE to check out the new Motorola PEBL V6! I've never seen anything like it...too bad its not avaliable in the US yet...
I judge a phone not on how much it sells, but how often it comes back to see my technicians. If a phone never comes back for repairs or return, it's doing it's job. I can tell you that I see about 50% of all Motos come back. The 710 was no exception, and I predict a flood of 815's on the way. LG's, at least in my area, are solid performers. We must sell 70% of our customers LG phones, and very few come back - those that do were the occasional quirky one.
The V710 was an excellent phone, unsurpassed voice recognition (with the exception of the 4500 which had a software upgrade for blind people), amazing speakerphone, great signal strength, bluetooth capable. I'm aware of all the garbage people have to say about the 710, but honestly, it's not my only digital camera, I was aware of the bluetooth functionality from day one, and I got a car charger to overcome the short battery life.
That being said, the E815 improves on everything from the V710. For Motorola fans, you'll be happy to know, THEY FINALLY FIXED THE CHARGING PORT DESIGN. The charger actually clicks into place and doesn'...

In the reviews, the 815 is holding a full point above the 8100. Moto's major issues seem to have been missing Vcast (since corrected) and reports of occasional echoing in the speaker phone. LG problems seem to be mediocre reception and low/fluctuating volume. Build quality, cosmetics, and "feel" are subjective - decide for yourself in the store.
