Which is better the LG8100 or the new follow up to the V710...815? I am going to get a new phone early Sept. and I am trying to see if there will be anymore phones coming out between now and then that have both bluetooth and VCAST...

Oh yeah, you guys HAVE to check out the new Motorola PEBL V6! I've never seen anything like it...too bad its not avaliable in the US yet...

LG8100.

I judge a phone not on how much it sells, but how often it comes back to see my technicians. If a phone never comes back for repairs or return, it's doing it's job. I can tell you that I see about 50% of all Motos come back. The 710 was no exception, and I predict a flood of 815's on the way. LG's, at least in my area, are solid performers. We must sell 70% of our customers LG phones, and very few come back - those that do were the occasional quirky one.

I would go with the 8100. From my understanding it will be the 1st phone that will support Music on Demand and Active GPS when Verizon launches these services.

I work for VZW, have used both phones extensively, and I've decided to use the E815 on my personal account.

The V710 was an excellent phone, unsurpassed voice recognition (with the exception of the 4500 which had a software upgrade for blind people), amazing speakerphone, great signal strength, bluetooth capable. I'm aware of all the garbage people have to say about the 710, but honestly, it's not my only digital camera, I was aware of the bluetooth functionality from day one, and I got a car charger to overcome the short battery life.

That being said, the E815 improves on everything from the V710. For Motorola fans, you'll be happy to know, THEY FINALLY FIXED THE CHARGING PORT DESIGN. The charger actually clicks into place and doesn'...

VZW Insider... Where were you when I was buying my last set of phones???

Thanks for your post. It is relevant, simple and detailed enough with information that has been "field tested"... Exactly what I was looking for.

You have convinced me! 😎

Take a look at the reviews and forums, taking care to filter out the meaningless BS from the fanboys and apologists. (NB - Spelling and grammar are pretty good screening criteria). Then go look at and handle the phones in the store and try the one you like the best. Use the 15 day return policy if you need it.

In the reviews, the 815 is holding a full point above the 8100. Moto's major issues seem to have been missing Vcast (since corrected) and reports of occasional echoing in the speaker phone. LG problems seem to be mediocre reception and low/fluctuating volume. Build quality, cosmetics, and "feel" are subjective - decide for yourself in the store. Next, decide which shortcomings are most important to you and whether you can live with ...
