KRZR K1M Verizon can't set ringtones for different people?

I sold one of these to a family member and she cannot set different ringtones for different people. When you go to your sound settings menu all of the different ringtones are locked. The literally have a little padlock on the front right bottom corner of the ringtone. I select a specific for someone in her phonebook and when that person calls her (even with area code) it still rings the default ringtone.

I pulled another K1M out of the box and the menu looks exactly the same. The ringtones are locked.

WTF?

Why would you sell such a crappy phone to a family member? That's just mean!

There should be a software upgrade to fix this in the near future. The K1M was rushed to launch and there are a few normal features "missing". Similar to the Chocolate speakerphone fiasco.

It happens when you have Vibe and Ring turned on:

That's a known bug - there is no fix.
I believe the problem is that no Motorola cdma phone has the ring and vibrate feature (they have ring THEN vibrate) - but Verizon has added ring and vibrate on the k1m thru their Verizon UI. Since the native Motorola software doesn't support that feature, they didn't correct for this bug. Maybe they'll fix it with a firmware upgrade, though maybe they won't. (Humpa)

I've had this phone for about a month now, and I like it a lot. Very good volumn and very good Bluetooth operation, plus it was pretty easy to hack around it so that I can tether to my laptop for an Internet connection. The only minor problems I find with it are: 1) The type font is a bit too small and hard to read in weak light. I can't find a way to change the font, and 2) The vibrate feature is not agressive enough and hard to feel, when in my shirt pocket. I have to have it at least beep to alert me so I am aware fo the vibrating, since I hate ringing cell phones everywhere. Then there is that miserable VZ UI, but that's on all their phones now.
