On Line Rebates

I was planning to purchase a phone from the verizon website at 'full retail' as a Christmas present. Last week I was in the process of completing the transaction when a chat now pop up appeared. I decided to take advantage of that to make sure i had covered all bases. I was informed that I had 6 days to have the phone activated or I would incur additional fees. I opted to wait until closer to the hoiday to try to avoid the cost. Well - at the time there was a $50.00 instant rebate being offered, I went on line today and it's gone. When I called CS, I was informed that there would not be a discount for full retail purchases - i tried to explain i was at check out and ready to pay WITH the $50.00 discount but they disagreed!!!!

that's b/c they are correct! rebates are a "promotion" and "suppose" to be for those that are renewing or extending service! your not, your buying full retail! the rebate is from vzw, not the manufacture! so why would vzw give you the $50 promotion when you are not buying the phone as a promotional deal!?!?! were there ways around this before and will people chime in saying they got them before? yes b/c the crap ass rebate center (Young America) would not check these types of details and just process them through. however Young America is no longer being used, to many issues and problems with them! they were dropped and going forward a new processing company and center handles the rebates. you are about 2.5 weeks too late of hoping to get so...

I think you missed the point - i wasn't trying to 'get away' with anything. I was at the check out - after selecting the phone number i wanted to upgrade and was told that I would need to pay full retail and the discount was applied - on line- without me doing anything!!! just last week.

bottom line,...if your buying the "full retail" as you said this is not considered an "upgrade" which means no rebate in the checkpout or even after the fact if you try to do the mail-in.

online at my account info had 50.00 discounts on phones from full retail.so like the pink razr was like 169.99 with the discount. and this was full retail with no contract extension. but i havent looked today to see if still there. but it was some kind of deal other than rebate. so may want to keep checking over next week or 2 for rhem to do it again.

We're an indirect and always give rebates on retail purchases. Everyone always gets them back. I even know for a fact some with the new provider have came back. They don't know... they just get the required information and pay the money.

The rebates on certain phones have been coming from Texas for months. They were split for a while.

The same thing happened to me the other day, I was just curious as to what the "outright" prices were, and I noticed that most of them said $50 instant rebate, which made the phones well below "full retail", I just checked and they are not showing the discounts anymore, guess it was a technical error.
