*228 and EZ-Pay

So I just had an EZ-Pay activation that didn't go so smoothly. First of all, customer brings the phone to me when it's about 5 minutes away from dying (lack of charge). I got it all put in the computer and such, and then it wouldn't *228. Just said "unable to program at this time". When I called in to get a rep to check to be sure everything was in the system correctly, she told me that "If the battery has less than 1/2 charge, the *228 system WILL NOT work"

First of all, I don't know how a tower can tell how much charge a battery has. 2nd of all...the amount of CPE activations we do around here for prepay when they bring the phones in dead, and we're runnin *228 with it plugged into the wall, and it works just fine. Was this rep really T...

Battery has to be half full huh? Thats the first time I ever heard that one, but yeah, its complete BS.

Anytime I get ahold of dummy in customer servivce (almost always prepaid dept), I just hang up and call back

Did you try manually programming it? Was the phone erroring out immediately or are you getting a voice error? Sometimes just powercycling the phone will help stuff like that.

And an easypay payment can be refunded within 15 days, but it is through a mail check.

In a normal situation, YES it is refunded. BUT! We are set up through a service called Datascape to take cash payments for customers. With that system, the customer pays us, and then VZW via Datascape direct debits our business account for the $$ applied to the account. Once its in there, it's in there. VZW won't refund US, so therefore we can't refund the customer.

I power cycled the phone probably 5 times. Even gave it like a 10 minute "hold" time just in case the switch was running behind. But yes finally I got the stupid rep to walk me thru a manual program. I know the codes to access the service menu, but prepaid phones vs standard phones for contract have different service codes to get into the phone. Before posting the p...

I use datascape too, you can void out prepaid sales as long as they are done before the phone has made a phone call.

But you cannot void a postpaid sale

I didn't think you could void out an EasyPay...hmm.. news to me!

Yup, its considered a prepaid sale, had to do it several times before once the customer found out that we only take cash for datascape
...
