How much is your average cell bill?
The reason I ask what other people are paying, is because it amazes me how many add-on features there are available to pay for! Text messaging, music & video downloads, web browsing, navigation...and the list goes on. Sure, I'd love to do some of that stuff. But I don't want a $100+ cell bill. I'm just wondering what the "average" bill is out there.

No...no home phone...just our cell phones...It's 119 a month for the 3 lines...plus the text packages puts it at $155 and the other $20 is taxes....oh I do have web 2.0 which is $5 a month...
That's not bad at all. I'm still paying around $50 a month for a home phone (local & LD). I've thought about getting rid of it, but I'm not quite ready to yet. Still a few more logistical hurdles in that one. π

We dropped all home service 5 years ago..it's worked out fine...get internet thru cable modem.
I've had internet through cable for a few years now. The biggest reason I haven't dropped the home phone yet, was because of our son. He just recently got his own cell phone. When my wife's work started to provide her with a phone, my son inherited her "add-on" line. Prior to that, I didn't want there to be times when he would be home alone and there would be no telephone at the house (in case of emergencies). I guess now that he has one, we could think about it again. Any real drawbacks that you've noticed?

If you get thrown in jail you can't call a cell phone collect, thats a big bummer, reason number one to keep the damn land line.
grovercg said:Believe me, I've thought about it. I know several people who have done it. I guess I need to sit down and figure out if I take the $50 I spend on the land-line and apply it to the cell plan, will it be enough. If I end up spending more, it's not really worth it. Yo...
Actually no...we have children too...and two of our three have cells so their is always a phone in the house. If your son has his own cell then I see no need to keep a land line. You've just always had one so that's why it's weird to not think of having one. From what I've read we're like the last country to still have so many people with land lines. My wife is South Korean and nobody there has land line...completely wireless.

Just make sure you have more than 1 cell around you. π€£
Guess I'm need to take that plunge here pretty quick, paying approx $40 month for nothing is pretty stupid on my part, could change to family share, keep a spare phone around for emergencies! He.., half the time don't even remember my landline ph # !
SWITCH!!!
Use the landline phone, call one that has a caller ID, and ask them what your number is.
The only good thing now about landline is FIOS- wow. When WIMAX comes out though, they have to watch out.
Check out this survey;

I do the same, and to text my wife to make sure she is not coming to the mall.
It typically runs over 350 a month:
2 lines, shared for 5000 minutes
Both phones have ins, text/pix, and International calling
then I have my Treo with 2000 mins and unlimited data
then I also have an aircard builtin to my dell which has unlimited data as well.
Actually my bills are autoatically debited so I don't really recall what I'm paying individually... and some of my plans are old.

I am sorry but I am the Grammar and Punctuation Nazi here to correct you, Spell Check Nazi.
At the end of the sentence there must only be ONE period. I am afraid that I will have to fine you 30 dollars for that.
Line #1 - $130.01 (6000 Minutes), $7 (VCast)
Line #2 - $9.99 (Shared)
Line #3 - $9.99 (Shared), $5 (Unlim TXT)
Line #4 - $9.99 (Shared), $5 (Unlim TXT), $7 (Vcast), $4.99 (Insur)
So prior to any "extras" it should be $188.97 ... toss in the fact that my family members aren't paying the bill and my average bill is around $300 (For example, last month I incurred $29.52 addt'l voice usage (411), $37.44 Data (Downloads), $22.77 Roaming (Canada)). Then add in taxes and surcharges and you get a big bill...
Just because we're employees doesn't mean we don't understand your billing concerns, we're customers too... and in my situation, a very good customer...
