How much is your average cell bill?

Matt_a

Nov 6, 2006, 1:38 PM
I currently have a "Family Share" plan which is $49.99 + $9.99 for an extra line. If we never go over our minutes or use ANY service with a fee, the bill runs around $74 a month after taxes and surcharges.
The reason I ask what other people are paying, is because it amazes me how many add-on features there are available to pay for! Text messaging, music & video downloads, web browsing, navigation...and the list goes on. Sure, I'd love to do some of that stuff. But I don't want a $100+ cell bill. I'm just wondering what the "average" bill is out there.

$175.00 for 3 lines...one phone with the 2500 text package, one with 1000 texts, and one with 500. We have the 2100 family share...

You have one of the larger bills I know of. I see the other two responses (so far) are more like what I pay. Do you also have a standard land-line telephone at your house, or do you do it all through your cell?

That's not bad at all. I'm still paying around $50 a month for a home phone (local & LD). I've thought about getting rid of it, but I'm not quite ready to yet. Still a few more logistical hurdles in that one. πŸ˜‰

I've had internet through cable for a few years now. The biggest reason I haven't dropped the home phone yet, was because of our son. He just recently got his own cell phone. When my wife's work started to provide her with a phone, my son inherited her "add-on" line. Prior to that, I didn't want there to be times when he would be home alone and there would be no telephone at the house (in case of emergencies). I guess now that he has one, we could think about it again. Any real drawbacks that you've noticed?

If you get thrown in jail you can't call a cell phone collect, thats a big bummer, reason number one to keep the damn land line.

Actually no...we have children too...and two of our three have cells so their is always a phone in the house. If your son has his own cell then I see no need to keep a land line. You've just always had one so that's why it's weird to not think of having one. From what I've read we're like the last country to still have so many people with land lines. My wife is South Korean and nobody there has land line...completely wireless.

Believe me, I've thought about it. I know several people who have done it. I guess I need to sit down and figure out if I take the $50 I spend on the land-line and apply it to the cell plan, will it be enough. If I end up spending more, it's not really worth it. Yo...

You may want to consider Amp'd Mobile if you want to scrap your wireline phone. They offer great rates for unlimited minutes and TXT and they use Verizon's network.

Here is what I do not get about consumers who get anything that has to deal with landline. You are paying a nice price to have that, but why when there is wireless out there. Pay up for the mobility and you will be rewarded.

SWITCH!!!

Use the landline phone, call one that has a caller ID, and ask them what your number is.

The only good thing now about landline is FIOS- wow. When WIMAX comes out though, they have to watch out.

Check out this survey;

β€œBarriers to switching to wireless exclusively

While the trend is expected to grow, there is still a segment of the population (39 percent of all adults) who say they will never abandon their traditional phone line. Among these adults, the top reasons given for never wanting ...

Does the $5 Mobile Web allow you to go off Verizon's WAP and browse HTML pages? I remember in the review of some Verizon phone they talked about entering a URL??
...
verizonplayah

Nov 7, 2006, 11:57 AM
Ya you can enter a URL in and go to a website. However it doesn't work out that great on most sites. For example, i tried going to phonescoop and it will only let you read the news on the front page and see the new phones that were released.

Its pretty useful though. I use it when im at the mall while my girlfriend shops...helps the time go by faster 😎

I think I have the highest here:

It typically runs over 350 a month:

2 lines, shared for 5000 minutes
Both phones have ins, text/pix, and International calling

then I have my Treo with 2000 mins and unlimited data

then I also have an aircard builtin to my dell which has unlimited data as well.

Actually my bills are autoatically debited so I don't really recall what I'm paying individually... and some of my plans are old.

my bill is too darn much 😲 😲 family share plan we just dropped down to the $69, dropped the Vcast we dont get online that much and from now on i'll view ringtones and RBT online since it costs from the phone, we dropped our text to the $5 a month plan which does not include V2V for free, our bill will STILL be over $100 with taxes and my company discount of 20%...but regularly our bill was $145-$150 mark...i'm hoping to see it in the $80-$85 range....

I am sorry but I am the Grammar and Punctuation Nazi here to correct you, Spell Check Nazi.

At the end of the sentence there must only be ONE period. I am afraid that I will have to fine you 30 dollars for that.

Employee Plan (4 Lines)

Line #1 - $130.01 (6000 Minutes), $7 (VCast)
Line #2 - $9.99 (Shared)
Line #3 - $9.99 (Shared), $5 (Unlim TXT)
Line #4 - $9.99 (Shared), $5 (Unlim TXT), $7 (Vcast), $4.99 (Insur)

So prior to any "extras" it should be $188.97 ... toss in the fact that my family members aren't paying the bill and my average bill is around $300 (For example, last month I incurred $29.52 addt'l voice usage (411), $37.44 Data (Downloads), $22.77 Roaming (Canada)). Then add in taxes and surcharges and you get a big bill...

Just because we're employees doesn't mean we don't understand your billing concerns, we're customers too... and in my situation, a very good customer...

We are paying about $150 a month.

$89.97~ access for 4 lines
$10 each for text on 2
$5 each for insurance
$1 each for ring back tones

So, not too bad really. My girlfriend and I split the bill and neither of us have a land line, so it's not too bad really!
