im curious. i have a drawer full of watches. some expensive, some outdoorsy, some blink some not..

so say you had a drawer full of phones, different ones. you're going out one night.. so you ESN your 'dress' phone. next day you go hiking.. so you ESN your gzone phone.. then you have a tiny something or other and just want to carry the smallest phone you have in your drawer.. so you ESN.. back and forth etc...

can you essentially do that ???

Sure, in Asia the average person has 2-3 cell phones, they just switch SIM cards and they accessorize with their phones

Not exactly, unless you are switching phones between the same plan. Like you can't swap out a VCast phone for non-VCast. Or analog for digital, PDA for handset, etc. You also can not swap a picture phone for a non-pic phone.

Face it..CDMA doesn't really allow for easy ESN Changing.

Even VZW will stopcap a certian number of ESN changes within a certian period of time.

If you really wanna change your phone as often as you change clothing, switch to a GSM provider, such as Cingular and T-Mo..that way its as easy as switching the sim card.

Why is it that way? Is it impossible to build a CDMA phone with a swappable module to make it easier to change phones?

It not impossible, it is done over-seas; the card used for CDMA is called R-UIM Card (work similar to SIM cards)

I do a lot of ESN changes in order to test the phones before I resell them to make sure they are in good working order

You should be able to change ESNs in MyAccount without having to pay the $15 processing fee as you would normally in a store. I have never heard of a "cap" though. I have also never really tried it...
