Is the v325 reliable?

I'm debating between the motorola v325 and the nokia 6236i. I travel in Idaho and Montana and am guessing the analog reception of the v325 would be useful- but I just don't know how useful. After seeing quite a few posts here and there on the v325, I'm concerned that I'll get a problem phone. The nokia has much less negative feedback, and I trust it would be a good phone. The consensus is that their reception is similar, which is my first concern. Thanks

I would go with the motorola, the nokia is a pain to use with the "toggle stick" or whatever it is called, it is actually built by nokia so it is good quality but I think that the moto will make you happier in the long run.

The 325 is an excellent basic phone. Don't know anything about the Nokia so I can't comment.

One thing to keep in mind when researching a phone on PhoneScoop is that any Moto product will have many unjustified negative reviews. Moto is like Microsoft in that there are certain people who hate these companies and will never report anything positive about their products.

Moto like all companies produce their share of junk. But many people wil knock Moto's good products just because they are Moto haters.

Must be because they are the biggest (in US). Few other companies have these unreasonable type of haters.

I think that most people that hate Motorola is justified, I personally hate them with a passion becasue most of their phone they put out are junk, and most have software problems like crazy, however I loved the 325 when I had it. I dont know about other people but I will call a spade a spade and the 325 is an excellent phone

Agreed. Moto's RAZR line seems to be the ones with the most problems of currently available devices. The E815 and V325 have gotten nothing but positive reviews from everyone I've talked to. And I'm tech support! I would definitely say go with the Moto.

Plus, it's got an extendable antenna so that should help some with reception, despite naysayers saying the antenna does nothing. I've been in poor analog areas with that phone and the antenna helps immensely. The Nokia doesn't even have an antenna.

Are you kidding me. THe moto bashing is usually completely justified. Moto's absolutely suck. I don't say this because motorola is big and being a moto hater. I have been given all of their phones a fair chance and keep getting burned. Every time I think a new phone they put out is pretty cool or nice its ends up exploding in your hands after 2 weeks. I will however say that I do like the 325 and think its a great phone. This is after it being out now for a while.

true. the 325 is one of the best ive seen from them in awhile. The 265/276 twins are probably the worst in the past few years. Sick of unable to charge, or worst yet the charge port wont even work.

I have a V325 and it is a very good phone, the reliability problems I had with previous Motorola phones, charger port and antenna, have been fixed in this phone. In all cases I was able to fix the problem and keep on using the phone.

I have had three Nokia phones in the past, although not the 6236i, and all have stopped working, as in dead, anywhere from 1 week to 3 months after the warranty expired.

ok, I haven't been with verizon long, however I trust NOKIA with my eyes shut, they have proven to be excellent on most phones they launch, like any other manufacturer of course there is the ocassional bad apple, but with motorolas I've had nothing but trouble, I had a razor and it was awful, I got a replacement for it and it had problems too, I don't know if the v325 is any better but that kinda ruined motorola for me. I would go for the nokia if I were you 🙂

It's amazing, your avatar, says "I'm too wide for your narrow mind" yet you recommend against a v325 without ever using one. And on top of that you state that you have not been Verizon long, so you have no idea of how the various CDMA ...

fyi: I had a motorola with verizon, I started a with a motorola with verizon. Excuse the hell out of me.
That is just my opinion. just like you are voicing yours. and I didn't have the "low end motorola" like the v325, I had the more expensive one that you would figure they would put more effort into. and is not only ONE phone that I had, I had to get it replaced twice and it still wasn't good.
End of discussion. Grow a brain

So, we've got a few Motorola detractors that recommend the 325 and others that commented with positive thoughts on the phone. The likely reason why you've seen more negative comments on the 325 is due to there being more of them out there. Verizone sells a ton of these. So, by sheer numbers as compared to the Nokia, You should see more comments on the Moto.

The 325 is a solid, few frills phone that is fairly durable and works well. It would be a good choice and having a Tri-mode phone when your traveling in an area that does not have dense coverage (assuming you will not always be in the largers cities of Montana).
