What will be motorola's replacement for the e815

I have an e815 and love it. I wanted to get one for my son before school starts and I guess I waited too late and the phone is now discontinued. I have had motorolas since the original star tac and would prefer a model similar to the e815 for him. The V3 seems a little fragile for him and my wife's V3 does not have reception equal to my e815. Does anyone know if Motorola is coming out with a phone in the near future to "replace" the e815? If not do I switch to an LG 8300 or another model. I want a sturdy bluetooth phone with vcast because he uses the internet access all of the time and I do not want just the mobile web option (such as on the V710) because that will rapidly eat up minutes. Thanks.

the 8300 rocks, other than that call around to some stores in your ares. I just had a customer drive 40 miles because a store still had 13 of them in stock.

Nevermind then, if you were in the SE market I could hook it up for you.

Even though its not online anymore, I still see it at Wal Mart and the Verizon store. They probably only have a few left though.

I recently picked up a second E815 (for my wife) at a Circuit City Verizon Wireless kiosk. They had a supply, even though the two local Verizon Wireless stores were permanently out of stock.

Great phone! I was able to get around the famous "crippling" and now upload and download images and ringtones via USB cable. My two E815s are also fully Bluetooth OBEX functional now, even though I don't care to use the feature. Of course E815s don't have the ugly red user interface.

I've never been a RAZR fan just because I don't like the styling. However, don't avoid the RAZR because of durability issues. I bought my son one in March, and it is the most rugged phone that I've ever had personal experiance with, incuding the 815.

I have searched all of the verizon stores, affiliated stores, best buy, and circuit city stores within a 15 mile radius and they are all out. I think I am resigned to switching brands and getting him an LG8300. It is a shame because I have all of the software (MPT and PST)and peripheral stuff (chargers, earlieces, cases) for the motorolas and transferring info will now be difficult at best.

If you have total equipment insurance they may replace all of your accessories. check on VZW website to see what it says I cannot remember the details about phone replacements. I know they replace everything when your phone is stolen. They tried to hustle me and say they didn't know anything about that coverage but I told them to check their website and sure enough total coverage includes stolen/lost accessories.... Double check about replacements. The insurance cost is I believe $5.99.

You can still get a new E815..but youll have to change carriers..its the updated version, the E816 Hollywood..its all black with the black rubber trim like the v325. Ampd mobil has it..your son would love this phone.

Keep in mind that while Amp'd Mobile uses Verizon's network, it is a startup and could go out of business at anytime.

I appreciate everyone's input. I ended up getting an LG vx5300 for someone else on the plan who didn't care about anything except a bluetooth headset and took her e815 for my son. VZW was great about switching everything around and everyone ended up OK at the end. I still do not look forward to the day when mine craps out and/or I am due for a new phone. The V3 just doesn't do it for me. Hopefully by 2007 something better will be along. Thanks again.
