I haven't seen any info on new ptt phones.. Doesn't seem to be a good business at the time for VZW from what I can tell. (Could be wrong, but very, very, very rarely get customer using it.)

I think VZW is waiting for EVDO Rev A to re-launch the PTT phones. I never understood why people wanted to have everyone listen to their call with "hey everyone I'm talking on the phone" chirp to let everyone around them know, not to mention you pay $10 more for it and you can only talk to other VZW PTT phone with that feature. I can understand businesses doing it, but not customer with a Family Plan.

They don't have to put the PTT call over the speakerphone, they can use PTT in normal handset mode, with the incoming voice going to the earpiece. Same as any phone with a speakerphone, the user can use either choose public over the speakerphone or private over the earpiece. Unfortunately, there a large percentage of rude and clueless people in all walks of life; rudeness/cluelessness are not carrier-specific traits.
If VZ had a PTT system that was worth having, which they don't, you'd soon learn why they are so handy, and you wouldn't want to give it up. But Verizon's intelligent management and great coverage trump any single feature, so obviously Verizon really doesn't need PTT to compete.
