That is true, and before that free nights started at 7PM but I am not sure if that was before or after Airtouch merged with Verizon.

AirTouch (and before that US West Cellular) had peak times of 7AM to 7PM Monday through Friday, everything else was considered off-peak. But then the price plans were very, very different. I know they got slightly better - but most of the time the plans were:

Casual Caller - $29.95/month 30 minutes.

Standard Caller - $39.95/month 60 minutes

Next plan (I don't remember the name of it) $99.95/ month 330 minutes AND FREE VOICE MAIL.

Weekend Bonus plan - $49.95 /month 60 minutes and unlimited off peak.

Also remember that these plans did not include any long distance, so you paid around $.25 per minute extra for long distance. And only the one plan came with voice mail.

I think I will take the 9PM nights over these old plans....

I see at least one customer per day that renews their old plan that has 8:00 PM nights. It is really stupid though, many of these people don't make enough calls between 8:00 and 9:00 to even need it. And they don't have unlimited VZW to VZW. But I imagine that some time soon VZW will change the nights or at least offer an hour earlier for a small fee. There was a time when they said they would never have $9.99 add a lines. Never say never!

I once had a plan with Tmobile (maybe it was still VoiceStream) that was 3000 minutes durring the week with unlimited weekends for like $40-$50. Only managed to go over once and that was because of a job I had in direct sales.
