When is Verizon planning on changing their policies for upgrades and fees? I read an article on here earlier stating that there would be a change in the fall sometime. I will have had my current phone in Februrary, but would really like to upgrade to the vx8500? Any ideas?

From what I heard and know that policy actually went into effect in Febuary(midwest). And I think the policy will be in effect nationwide starting this fall.

Proprietary information. They don't tell us a specific date so that the information doesn't get leaked to competitors on site such as this.

I'm sorry I didn't read you're entire post. You are on a share line. And crazyeagle is right most stores will give you a 100 dollar instant rebate when you sign up for the unlimited data plan (44.99 a month) What is your price plan? you will need to go up to atleast be on the 69.99 700 minute share lines or higher and stay there for three months. Hope this helps.

Nope. The Advance Device Promotion $100 discount is not compatible with early upgrades or phones bought at full retail. Please don't set people up with false expectations. Personally, I'd rather people on this board said "nope, no discount" and then were happily surprised to learn they had one than the other way around...

Where are you located? I am an indirect. I would give 100 off retail if you added the unlimited data plan and agreed to keep that plan for 6 months...

I have to say I am surprised by this!

NEW YORK -- Verizon Wireless is once again upping the ante when it comes to customer service. Speaking at the Yankee Group Wireless Leadership Summit this afternoon, Denny Strigl, CEO of Verizon Wireless, announced that the company will become the first carrier to pro-rate early termination fees (ETF) for customers who choose to leave Verizon Wireless before their contract expires.

Strigl says the company will pro-rate the fees based upon how long the customer has been with Verizon and how close his or her contract is to expiring. The new policy will begin this fall.

Verizon already does the $50 for a replacement phone when out of warranty. You get a refurbished phone as well as a 90 day warranty on it. Carriers like to re-state programs they have in place to make it sound like it is a new and improved policy. Most consumers don't even notice the difference. AT&T, as well as Cingy, use to pro-rate ETF charges. Verizon is just copying another carriers old policy. Time to come up with something original Verizon!!

In the West area, if you've been paying $59.99 or more for your access you can already upgrade a year early. A lot of this stuff has been coming out over an extended period of time so the customer service reps don't get inundated with a ton of new policy all at once. The pro-rated ETF is really the only thing that's yet to come out. No, we don't know exactly how it's going to work.
