pda exchange need help

When I renewed my contract last month (my phone problems finally fixed) I bought my father a pda phone. He picked the samsung i700 due to a very cheap price $150 because it was the last one new in the warehouse. Starting friday it started locking up and randomly turning on by itself. My question is if he brings it to verizon -it is 28 days old- to do a warranty exchange what will happen . They did say it was the last one. He is scared he will get a treo or something and he wants to have ms windows os. Any advice would help. Thanks.

First the PDA will have to be exchanged over the phone as store reps aren't trained on troubleshooting PDA issues. Second, he will most likely be sent a refurbished phone if there are any still available. If none are available the Date Tech will figure out what phone to send.

Yes, but this is a phone that is only a month old and still under factory warranty. Why would they stick him with a refurbished phone. That is rediculous. Thanks for the info

The factory warranty provides for a refurbished phone after 15 days. You are welcome to call Samsung and see what they will do about it directly but through Verizon, you will be getting a refurbished phone if you've had it more than 15 days no matter what.

I can only speak to the West area policy. So if your somewhere else it may be different. If you handset or PDA is deemed to be defective within the first 30 days we replace it with a brand new one. After 30 ...

Thanks nwdavis, I really hope that is the case. If the phone was mine I really wouldn't care what they gave me, but this was a gift for my dad and I would hate for him to be unhappy. We will try it tomorrow. Thanks again 😁

fru stands for factory replacement unit, a unit provided by the manufacturer that has been tested & refurbished to serve as a warranty replacement so that the customer doesn't have to wait for one to be mailed to them after they mail in the broken phone.
