T-Mobile only operates in the PCS band, and PCS doesn't penetrate buildings as well as cellular frequencies. Sprint is similar in my area, not working as well as Verizon. Cingular is the only GSM carrier that comes close to Verizon in good coverage, and I believe in my area, they mostly operate in the cellular band, while Verizon operates in both cellular & PCS.
