Who thinks verizon will completely do away with its UI? If you don't think so what changes would you like to see?

I think they will keep the UI and make it more customizable but at the same time allow some other phones besides pda/nokia to make through without it.

I personally enjoy the UI. It's easy to use.
However I do wish you could change the color of the "red bars" maybe do a little more customization.

But I will tell you one thing, it's makes it 10 times easier on us techs when having to explain how to use a cell phone when each and every one has the same menu.

I think thats what Ticks a lot of ppl off, I never believed for one minute that it was for my benefit. I think verizon should offer the advanced user an option to purchase a different UI/advanced features. The user would be happy and verizon makes more money. win/win

Yeah that would be nice, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. VZW would rather keep it simple I suppose! *shrug*

I think the UI should become customizable with Skinz available through Get It Now. That way, if you pay for it, it should/could be gaurenteed to work with no glitches as I heard stories about the e815 skins.

However, on the point of the customers knowing how to use a phone... SLAP that f*ck with a manual! I mean how lazy are people? No one reads anymore? Atleast pop in the CDROM they give ya!

I can see it now: all customers will have a MiGo with a camera and 4 buttons (on/off, call, Camera, panic).

Exactly right no one reads the manuals. That's too difficult. It's like the people who purchase insurance for their phone then get mad because they have to pay ...

just make the UI work for everyone...high end, educated cell users get screwed with this UI. Add more customization options...FOR FREE!!! I absolutely refuse to pay vzn more money to add features back to a phone that they stripped away so some idiot doesnt have to learn a new UI.

(b-boy stance)......... the UI is okay. i've never slandered it so i don't know WHY you would not include me....earlier was a joke but, YOU must wanna battle....sucka mcee's like you can't faze me son. 😛 .

however, back on a more professional and endeering note 😁 😛 🤣 . 🙄 . the only quam's that i have with the UI are that vzw locks out certain features that they think aren't used that much. i.e. 24hour clock on the motorola razr. 😳 , the flash ability on the samsung a 850 😳. i won't go on. 😛 and it also makes the different manufacturers phones all look and feel the same.

now what i'd like to see is the manu's UI features kept but with the vzw UI styling. (althought i'm not a fan of it). or they can add a misc. tab...

I doubt Verizon will do away with their new UI. I do WISH they would do SOMETHING so that those of us who don't care for it could enjoy our phones to the fullest. My suggestion would be similar to the others already posted. I would LOVE to see an option to revert back to the manufacturers UI. I know them, I like them, they make more sense to me.

I'm kind of a phone geek in my years in the industry. It used to be a practice of mine that whenever I'd get a new phone I'd pull it out of the box and play with it to check everything out on it.

With the new standard UI it has taken all the fun out of it. They're all the same now, no fun anymore. I hate the UI.

Yeah, I agree. That's what I enjoyed about getting a new phone. Something different. Too bad Verizon doesn't offer the choice of their standard UI or what normally comes with the phone, then people can pick which UI they prefer.

I don't like the UI but can live with it. If Verizon is going to change nything, I'd rater they quit crippling the phones and make it so you obtain data services off-network.

Verizon should really make the UI customizable. What they have now is not good for business.

As for people that think it makes customer service easy. You are being cheated.

Having the same UI on all phones is a sign that Verizon is too lazy to train all the customer service agents. Rather than meeting the DIFFERENT needs of customers Verizon just makes one UI and make THEIR lives easier. 👿

I am pretty sure all the customer service reps know all of the seperate UI's already.

I know I do as a tech seeing them everyday pretty much. Yes it does make it easier for us, but it makes it easier for the 90% of the population who don't care about the UI and don't want to learn a new one.

VZW isn't going to cater to the 10% of the population who care to learn a different UI. Or want to customize their Menu.

right sure, whatever...where the hell do you get those numbers seems pretty lame to me. 90% dont care 🙄 10% do 🙄 you already admitted its because of lazy techs and verizons bottom line, you cant back peddle now.

Well I made up the numbers as an example. No need for the rudeness. I don't really care about the numbers the point is the MAJORITY don't care.

And Lazy Techs? You really have no idea what you are talking about do you. I know every single UI like the back of my hand. I can find anything I want in them pretty much. And any tech I know who's been there over 4 month can as well. As for verizon I can't say I guess because I don't work for them. But all the store reps in my store know what they are doing.

And my point was it doesn't make it easier for us because we have to remember all of them. I already know them so that's not the point. It's easier to explain to the CUSTOMER and then tell them any phone they choose is going to have to s...

I think the UI is a good thing. The general population isn't as tech savvy or as intelligent as some of the folks on the forum. A standard UI is good for the consumer as there is no real difference or learning needed in changing phones. It's good for the company as I'm sure Verizon wanted to have less calls on... "I just got my phone and I don't know how to send a pix message" aka "I can't read a user manual, you do it." Of course it would be better for the Nay-sayers to have more custom options, like changing the color of the "red-bars" we all know and love. Maybe they will sell it on Get It Now. UI Customizer $3.49 🙂
